Can skin cancer be treated with cryosurgery?

Although the incidence of skin cancer in my country is very low, we also need to understand the treatment methods for skin cancer patients. Among skin cancers, basal cell carcinoma is the most common. The early manifestations of skin cancer are mostly erythematous skin lesions, accompanied by scaly desquamation or crust formation. It is not only difficult to distinguish its histological type by naked eye observation, but also easy to be confused with benign skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema. Pathological examination is often required for diagnosis. So can skin cancer be treated with cryosurgery?

Skin cancer can be treated with surgery, radiotherapy and other methods. As for how long a skin cancer patient can live after treatment, this is closely related to factors such as the patient's physical condition, the location of the lesion, and the size of the surgical resection. This question is really inconclusive. However, many skin cancer patients will have various side effects after treatment, and may even be left with scars. These treatments cause great damage to the patient's skin and body functions, thus affecting the patient's treatment psychology.

Cryotherapy is a new treatment method. Its advantage is that it has more beautiful wounds than curettage, and its cure rate can reach 95% to 97%. For lesions in the eye area, this method can still be used as long as the eyeball is covered with a hot protective material. Generally speaking, skin cancer that is suitable for curettage is also suitable for cryotherapy, especially some cases with fibrous components that are not conducive to curettage; cases that relapse after curettage and radiotherapy are more suitable for cryotherapy. However, the lesion must be limited to the skin. Those that invade other tissues and organs are not suitable for cryotherapy.

However, skin cancer patients must undergo biopsy confirmation before cryotherapy, because there is no specimen available for pathological examination after cryotherapy. After the surgeon marks the tumor boundary, the lesion and the surrounding 2 to 5 mm of normal tissue are used as the treatment area. -20℃ is the best temperature to ensure tumor cell lethality. Then thawing begins. Slow thawing can kill tumor cells more effectively than fast thawing. Fast thawing is only used to prevent damage to more normal tissues.
