Is stage II nasopharyngeal carcinoma contagious?

Nasopharyngeal cancer is hidden deep in the nasopharynx, difficult to detect, and develops rapidly. It often occurs in people aged 30 to 50, and the incidence rate is high in several provinces in southern my country. Nasopharyngeal cancer is easily misdiagnosed and missed. Once misdiagnosed, it poses a great threat to life. However, if it can be detected and treated early, most patients can recover. 1. Ear and nose symptoms: nasal congestion, bloody nasal discharge or nose bleeding, especially bloody discharge after blowing the nose vigorously in the morning, which lasts for more than 2 weeks and cannot be cured; hard, painless lumps appear on the neck or under the earlobe, which gradually increase in size and are ineffective with anti-inflammatory drugs; blood streaks or small blood clots in the nasopharyngeal secretions spit out or inhaled from the mouth in the morning; tinnitus or deafness, diplopia, visual impairment and exophthalmos.

2. Headache: It is often the only first symptom. The headache is biased to one side, the location is relatively fixed, and it is a continuous pain. If the tumor further compresses the nerves at the base of the skull, the headache will be aggravated and exacerbated in paroxysmal forms.

3. Cranial nerve symptoms: Cancer can easily damage most cranial nerves, first damaging the abducens nerve, oculomotor nerve, trochlear nerve, and trigeminal nerve, causing difficulty in eye movement, ptosis, diplopia, facial numbness, difficulty chewing, and other corresponding symptoms.

4. Cervical lymph node metastasis: The rate of cervical lymph node metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is high and very early, which may appear before ear and nose symptoms. Generally, it first appears in the deep cervical lymph node group on the same side of the cancer, that is, below the earlobe. The swollen lymph nodes can be touched, which are hard and painlessly enlarged. The mass is movable at first and then fixed due to adhesion.

5. The high-risk groups for nasopharyngeal cancer are those who have long-term consumption of various condiments containing chili and pepper, chili oil, salted fish, pickled food, and the length of time, frequency and cooking methods of consumption; those who have long-term exposure to chemical carcinogens such as asbestos and coal tar; those infected with Epstein-Barr virus; and middle-aged and elderly yellow people.

"Kissing virus" can spread and cause nasopharyngeal cancer

The Epstein-Barr virus that causes nasopharyngeal cancer can be transmitted through saliva, and kissing will directly increase the chance of developing nasopharyngeal cancer. Since there is no drug or saliva that can kill the Epstein-Barr virus, citizens should avoid kissing strangers.

Epstein-Barr virus is commonly known as the "kissing virus" because of its transmission route. Therefore, it can be said that nasopharyngeal carcinoma is contagious when it is in the second stage.

The most common way of transmission is through saliva exchange, and kissing is the most common way of transmission. Many research reports have found that most nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients are infected with EB virus, which infers that EB virus is an important factor causing nasopharyngeal carcinoma. In addition to nasopharyngeal carcinoma, kissing can also cause a series of infectious diseases. Young people in their 20s are often infected with EB virus through kissing, which leads to severe pharyngitis, tonsillitis, neck and body lymphadenopathy. Other ways of transmission of EB virus include sneezing, coughing, sharing tableware and blood transfusion. The infected person will have a headache, fever, liver enlargement, dehydration, and diarrhea. The symptoms generally last for 2 to 4 weeks, but the symptoms will last longer for people with poor immunity. So far, there is still no drug treatment for the virus. Patients can only rely on their personal immunity to restrain themselves. After infection, it is best to rest more and drink more water.
