Is it okay to exercise in the early stages of nasopharyngeal cancer?

At present, the incidence of tumors is getting higher and higher, and it has become one of the common diseases that seriously threaten health and cause disability. Because of its low survival rate, low treatment efficiency and the younger age of onset, people often talk about "cancer" with fear. Many patients have recovered from the disease after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and everything is fine.

In fact, patients who hold these views do not correctly understand the characteristics of tumors and do not understand the matters that should be paid attention to during the recovery period. So what are the specific matters that should be paid attention to?

First, review regularly

Generally speaking, cure actually means no signs of tumor recurrence and the same life expectancy as those without tumors. However, for most tumors, the 5-year survival rate is often used as an indicator to evaluate the tumor recovery period. In fact, for some more aggressive or malignant tumors, the 3-year survival rate is often used to evaluate whether they can be cured.

Secondly, psychological adjustment

First of all, we must correctly understand and accept the current situation, look at the disease with a positive and optimistic attitude, and have the attitude of "if it comes, we will accept it". We can also communicate with some cancer patients frequently or share our experiences in some cancer patient communities, learn to make ourselves strong and happy, practice yoga and listen to music. If we have depression, we should go to the hospital for treatment.

Diet and exercise adjustment

Patients in the recovery period should be aware of the differences between their bodies and before the disease. In terms of diet, especially those who have undergone surgery to remove some organs, such as gastric cancer and esophageal cancer patients, their eating habits should be gradually changed and adapted, such as eating small meals frequently, avoiding eating foods that are difficult to digest, not eating spicy and rough foods, ensuring adequate protein intake, and eating more foods with high vitamin content and foods with certain anti-cancer effects such as mushrooms, garlic and black foods.

In terms of exercise, you should participate in exercise as much as possible under the premise of physical condition. You should pay attention to the individualization of exercise plans. You can participate in activities such as walking, qigong, tai chi and jogging. It is not advisable to participate in too strenuous exercise to avoid excessive fatigue and reduce your own immune function. For lung cancer patients, you should learn to do breathing exercises to increase the compensatory function of the remaining lung.

It is best to get help from family members and social groups.

For cancer patients, the supporting role of family, unit and social groups cannot be ignored. Family members should understand the psychological and personality changes of patients, and should try their best to help them get out of the shadow of the disease, enable them to face life calmly and learn to enjoy life, do what they can to enhance their self-confidence, and let their social value be expressed as much as possible.
