What are the differential diagnoses of colon cancer?

As long as patients actively cooperate with treatment and take care of themselves properly, colon cancer can be completely cured, but this does not mean that colon cancer will not recur. At present, many patients still have intermittent recurrences, so regular examinations and diagnoses are very necessary, especially after colon cancer surgery. Regular visits to the hospital for checkups and follow-ups and taking rehabilitation measures are required. The specific survival time after treatment is still related to the individual's physical constitution, rehabilitation environment, and post-operative radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

The differential diagnosis of colon cancer is as follows:

1. Benign colon tumors

The course of the disease is long and the symptoms are mild. X-ray shows local filling defects with regular shape, smooth surface, sharp edges, no narrowing of the intestinal cavity, and intact unaffected colon bags.

2. Inflammatory colitis

Inflammatory colitis includes tuberculosis, schistosomiasis granuloma, ulcerative colitis, dysentery, etc. The medical history of intestinal inflammatory lesions has its own characteristics. Stool microscopy may have its own special findings, such as worm eggs, phagocytes, etc., and dysentery can culture pathogenic bacteria. X-ray examination shows that the lesions are longer in the intestine, while cancer rarely exceeds 10 centimeters. Colonoscopy and pathological histology are also different, which can further confirm the diagnosis.

3. Others

Colon spasm, X-ray examination showed a small segment of intestinal stenosis, which was reversible. Appendiceal abscess; there was an abdominal mass, but X-ray examination showed that the mass was outside the cecum, and the patient had a history of appendicitis.

Warm reminder: When the colon is suffering from cancer, the physiological function is damaged, and the defecation function and overall condition are affected, such as diarrhea, difficulty in defecation, general weight loss and other symptoms.
