Bed sheets are a very common daily necessity and have a wide range of uses. For example, bed sheets can be spread on the floor or on the bed. Some people use bed sheets as small thin quilts to cover themselves. However, newly bought bed sheets are not as easy to handle as imagined and need to be washed with water in advance. During the washing process, it is found that the bed sheets have faded. Will the discoloration of the bed sheets cause some undue harm to the human body? Reasons why bed sheets fade 1. Improper drying and maintenance We often see people taking out bed sheets and quilt covers to dry in the sun when the sun is particularly strong, but this is actually wrong. Because the sun's exposure will evaporate part of the dye in the sheets and quilt covers, causing them to fade. It is generally believed that the best time for drying clothes is between 12 noon and 14 o'clock, and the drying time should not exceed 1.5 hours. 2. Washing too frequently There is a cycle for washing bed sheets. We recommend washing bed sheets about once a month. It will be more convenient if we have 2 to 3 sets of bed sheets for spare replacement. Because frequent washing will wash away some of the dye in the sheets, causing them to fade. 3. Improper washing method Most dyes will be dissolved by water, so you should not soak your sheets in water for too long to avoid discoloration. At the same time, rubbing vigorously, washing in hot water, or soaking in alkaline water can easily cause the sheets to fade. Solution to bed sheet fading 1. For new sheets Before using new sheets, you can wash them with clean water, then add concentrated salt water to soak them in the water for about 2 hours. The amount of concentrated salt water is about two teaspoons per large bucket of water. If there has been fading before, add light salt water and soak it for about 2 hours before the next wash, which can perfectly solve the fading problem. 2. For brightly colored sheets For brightly colored sheets, we recommend washing them with vinegar. First, soak your sheets in vinegar and water for about 15 minutes before washing them. The vinegar should not be mixed with water in a concentrated manner, otherwise it will cause certain damage to the sheets. In addition to this method, we can also use floral water to clean. Soak the sheets in water, add a few drops of toilet water, and soak for about 10 minutes. This method can not only kill bacteria but also remove sweat and odor. The fading of bed sheets is certainly annoying, but as long as you understand the cause and take appropriate measures, the sheets can maintain their bright colors and your mood will naturally improve. |
