Most cases have symptoms of primary cancer. Early lung metastasis often has no obvious respiratory symptoms. If the lung lesions are extensive, dry cough, blood in sputum, and dyspnea may occur. If there is concurrent carcinomatous lymphangitis, a large amount of pleural effusion, atelectasis, or compression of the superior vena cava, the dyspnea will be more obvious. Secondary infection may cause fever. Pulmonary hypertrophic osteoarthritis and clubbing are less common than primary lung cancer.
When lung metastasis invades the pleura, main bronchus or adjacent structures, the same symptoms as primary bronchogenic carcinoma may occur, such as cough, blood-streaked sputum, chest pain, chest tightness, shortness of breath, etc. When symptoms appear earlier, it indicates that the metastatic lesion involves the bronchus.
