Main symptoms of liver qi stagnation : obstruction in the throat, hoarseness, chest and abdominal pain, poor appetite, tinnitus and deafness, and phlegm nuclei in the neck. Dark red tongue, thin white fur, and stringy pulse. Treatment method: Soothe the liver and relieve depression, regulate qi and eliminate stagnation. Prescription: Siqi decoction with modifications. Sugengye 12g, Qingchenpi 9g each, Banxia 9g, August Zha 15g, Citrus Hand 9g, Cyperus rotundus 12g, Salvia miltiorrhiza 15g, Scrophularia 12g, Prunella vulgaris 12g, raw oyster 30g, raw licorice 6g. Add or subtract: For those with liver depression and fire, dry mouth and bitter taste, add gentian grass and gardenia; for those with blood stasis and ecchymosis on the tongue, add peach kernel, safflower, three-edged lanceolate, and curcuma; for neck lumps, add trillium and cat's claw. 2. Main symptoms of lung and kidney yin deficiency : hoarseness, sore throat, dry throat, thin body, low voice, cough with blood or hemoptysis, red or purple tongue, little or no coating, and fine pulse. Treatment: nourish the lung and kidney, nourish yin and benefit qi. Method: add or subtract Baihe Gujin Decoction. 12g each of raw and cooked rehmannia, 15g each of asparagus, 12g of lily, 12g of red peony root, 30g of Scrophularia, 12g of Cornus officinalis, 12g of Lycium barbarum, 12g of Pseudostellaria heterophylla, 9g of Angelica sinensis, 30g of Hedyotis diffusa, 9g of trillium, 12g of Bombyx batryticatus, 9g of Fritillaria cirrhosa. Add or subtract: For sore throat, add puffball, sophora flavescens, and honeysuckle; for qi deficiency, add raw astragalus and codonopsis; for concurrent kidney yang deficiency, lower limb weakness, frequent urination at night, back pain and weak knees, add Jinkui Shenqi Pills; for hot flashes and night sweats, add Anemarrhena asphodeloides and tortoise shell; for constipation, add whole melon and hemp seed; for blood in sputum, add madder root, Imperata root, and Agrimoniae. |
