Chinese medicine believes that laryngeal cancer is caused by stagnation of heat in the lung meridian and phlegm-heat blocking the lungs. Chinese medicine treatment emphasizes syndrome differentiation and treatment. So, the treatment methods and basic formulas for stagnation of heat in the lung meridian and phlegm-heat blocking the lungs are as follows: 1. Main symptoms of lung meridian stagnation and heat : hoarseness, dry throat and mouth, cough, or blood in sputum, fever, short and red urine, dry stool or constipation, red tongue, thin yellow tongue coating, and rapid pulse . Treatment: Clear lung heat, detoxify and relieve sore throat. Prescription: Yinqiao powder combined with Wuwei Xiaoduyin with modifications. 30g of honeysuckle, 30g of forsythia, 30g of wild chrysanthemum, 30g of dandelion, 30g of Viola yedoensis, 15g of Scrophularia, 6g of puffball, 12g of Belamcanda, and 12g of elephant shell. Modification: add mint, schizonepeta, and Commelina for fever; add Imperata root, Rubia root, and Agrimonia for blood in sputum; add raw rhubarb (added later) and whole melon for dry stool; add plantain and cirsium for short and red urine. 2. Phlegm-heat obstructing the lungs : cough with a lot of phlegm, or phlegm in the throat, yellow and sticky phlegm, or blood in phlegm, chest tightness and shortness of breath, hoarseness, gradual or aphonia, yellow urine, red tongue, yellow or greasy fur, slippery and rapid pulse. Treatment: clear the lungs and resolve phlegm. Prescription: Qianjin Weijing Decoction with modifications. Reed stem 30g, peach kernel 12g, winter melon kernel 30g, raw coix seed 30g, bile star 15g, houttuynia cordata 30g, almond 9g, Belamcanda 15g, large-leaf vegetable 30g, Aristolochia 15g, Morus alba bark 12g. Modification: add Scutellaria baicalensis, Coptis chinensis, Gardenia jasminoides for severe heat; add Tianzhuhuang and Fuhai stone for thick phlegm; add Prunella vulgaris, raw oyster, cat's claw grass, and raw Pinellia ternata for neck lumps. |
