There are 4 aspects to the treatment of pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic cancer is a common pancreatic tumor. It is a highly malignant digestive tract tumor that is difficult to diagnose and treat. About 90% of them are ductal adenocarcinomas that originate from the glandular duct epithelium. In the past 20 years, the incidence of pancreatic cancer has increased significantly in some cities in my country. However, less than 10% of patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survive one year, and the five-year survival rate is 2.

The cause of pancreatic cancer is not yet very clear. The occurrence of pancreatic cancer is related to smoking, drinking, high-fat and high-protein diet, excessive coffee drinking, environmental pollution and genetic factors. Survey reports in recent years have found that the incidence of pancreatic cancer in people with diabetes is significantly higher than that in the general population. Some people have also noticed that there is a certain relationship between patients with chronic pancreatitis and the incidence of pancreatic cancer, and found that the proportion of patients with chronic pancreatitis who develop pancreatic cancer is significantly increased. In addition, there are many factors that are related to the occurrence of this disease, such as occupational environment and geography.

Treatments for pancreatic cancer include:

(1) After the diagnosis of pancreatic head cancer is confirmed, surgical resection is the first choice. The standard surgical procedure is pancreaticoduodenectomy, which requires resection of the pancreatic head, duodenum, distal common bile duct, gallbladder, and gastric antrum. Gastrointestinal reconstruction is then performed, namely gastrojejunostomy, common bile duct jejunostomy, and pancreaticojejunostomy.

(2) For pancreatic body and tail cancer, pancreatic body and tail resection can be performed, plus splenectomy and lymph node dissection.

(3) Palliative surgery: Most pancreatic cancers cannot be cured after diagnosis, and palliative surgery is often used to relieve jaundice and duodenal obstruction.

(4) Other methods include chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
