Pancreatic enzyme assay for pancreatic cancer

The pancreas contains a variety of enzymes. Under normal circumstances, these enzymes can enter the blood and be excreted through the kidneys. When the pancreas becomes inflamed, a large amount of pancreatic enzymes are released into the blood, causing increased activity in the blood and urine. However, when the pancreas suffers substantial and severe damage, the amount of pancreatic enzymes decreases, and the activity of pancreatic enzymes in the blood and urine decreases accordingly.

(1) Pancreatic exocrine function test: Pancreatic exocrine function tests are divided into two categories according to their methods: direct experiments and indirect experiments. The direct method is to use gastrointestinal hormones to directly stimulate the secretion of the pancreas and measure the secretion of pancreatic juice and pancreatic enzymes. The indirect method is to stimulate the secretion of gastrointestinal hormones and the pancreas by using experimental meals and other methods to stimulate the pancreas and measure the secretory function of the pancreas, or measure the products generated by pancreatic enzyme digestion of certain substances to estimate the ability of the pancreas to secrete pancreatic enzymes.

(2) Pancreatic endocrine function measurement: Pancreatic endocrine function measurement mainly refers to measurements related to insulin, including fasting blood glucose, postprandial blood glucose and oral glucose tolerance test.
