What are the symptoms caused by distant metastasis of lung cancer

Lung cancer is one of the malignant tumors that is prone to distant metastasis. Some lung cancer patients have symptoms of distant metastasis as the first symptom and are diagnosed with lung cancer when they seek medical treatment. In addition, if the symptoms of distant metastasis can be detected early after the onset of lung cancer, timely treatment can be carried out. Therefore, it is very important to understand the symptoms caused by distant metastasis of lung cancer.

Lung cancer is prone to distant metastasis to the brain and central nervous system, liver, bones, and lymph nodes. The symptoms of metastasis are as follows:

1. Metastasis to the brain and central nervous system: At this time, the patient may experience headache, vomiting, diplopia, dizziness, ataxia, hemiplegia, and in severe cases, increased intracranial pressure, which is caused by the metastatic lesions compressing the related nerves and tissues.

2. Metastasis to the liver: The most common symptom of lung cancer metastasis to the liver is pain in the liver area, which may be accompanied by loss of appetite, indigestion and other manifestations of damaged liver function. In the later stages, the patient may show symptoms of weight loss, pain in the liver area, jaundice, and even ascites. Physical examination may reveal an enlarged liver with medium or hard texture and irregular edges.

3. Bone metastasis: Lung cancer often metastasizes to the ribs, spine, and pelvis. There are generally no symptoms in the early stages, but in severe cases, local pain and tenderness may occur.

4. Lymph node metastasis: Lung cancer lymph node metastasis is most common in supraclavicular lymph nodes, and can also metastasize to the subcutaneous tissues, where subcutaneous nodules can be palpated.
