How to stop breastfeeding if you don't plan to breastfeed

As children grow up, they need to face the process of weaning. Weaning is relatively difficult for women who breastfeed, because in order to wean their babies, they not only have to endure a certain amount of psychological pressure, but it is also very uncomfortable physically. Of course, if you don’t want to breastfeed and want to stop breastfeeding, there are many ways to do it, such as natural or artificial weaning.

1. Natural weaning

For those who have been breastfeeding for 1 to 2 years and have weaned normally, natural weaning methods can often be used. The specific method is to gradually reduce the number of breastfeeding times, minimize the number and amount of breast milk the baby sucks, shorten the time of each breastfeeding, and at the same time eat less soup and milk-producing foods, and eat less protein-rich foods. The secretion of milk gradually decreases until it disappears completely.

2. Artificial weaning

Artificial weaning can be divided into food weaning method and drug weaning method. It is mostly used for those who have been weaned or whose natural weaning is not effective when the breastfeeding period is less than 10 months due to various diseases or special reasons.

(1) Food method for weaning: Ingredients and preparation: Put 100 grams of roasted malt into a pot, add water and boil, remove the residue and drink it, one dose per day for three consecutive days.

(2) Drug weaning method

Vitamin B6 tablets

Usage: 200 mg orally 3 times a day for 5 to 6 days

Principle: Promote the production of dopamine in the brain, thereby stimulating dopamine receptors and reducing pituitary prolactin secretion.

External use of milk-reducing medicine

For external application, 250 grams of Glauber's salt is crushed into fine particles and placed in two gauze bags, one on each breast, and fixed with a bra. Because the drug turns into a hard cake after deliquescence, it should be changed once a day; breast edema can be eliminated after 3-5 days.

3. Precautions when weaning

1. It is best to start weaning during the day. Because there are many things to attract the baby during the day, he will not specifically look for his mother to drink milk, but in the morning and evening, the baby will be very attached to his mother and not easy to break away.

2. If the mother's breasts are severely swollen, she can use a breast pump to extract the milk, but do not extract it all at once, otherwise it will promote milk secretion.

3. When weaning, be careful to reduce stimulation to the breasts and nipples. Never let the baby suck milk again. Also avoid rinsing the breasts with hot water, which can reduce milk secretion. .

4. If you find a lump in your breast, rub it with your hands in time and go to the hospital for physical therapy if necessary. Prevent mastitis.
