How to prevent abnormal blood count during chemotherapy for osteosarcoma

When osteosarcoma patients receive chemotherapy, the drugs used are all mid-term toxic and often cause hematopoietic system abnormalities. They should be protected and isolated during chemotherapy, and effective measures should be taken to prevent complications.

1. During the use of chemotherapy drugs, you should pay attention to rechecking your blood count: During the use of chemotherapy drugs, you should pay attention to rechecking your blood count. You can recheck your blood count once on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 14th day of chemotherapy. If the white blood cell count is lower than 3×109/L and the platelet count is lower than 50×109/L, you should consider stopping the drug and deal with it in time.

2. Use tourniquet with caution during intravenous puncture: Use tourniquet with caution during intravenous puncture. Press the needle hole for about 5 minutes after the injection to prevent sharp objects from damaging the patient's skin.

3. Strict aseptic operation: The entire chemotherapy process should be carried out under strict aseptic operation to avoid contact between the patient and the source of infection and prevent cross infection. All items used by the patient must be sterilized before use.

4. Ward disinfection: Disinfect the ward regularly. Ultraviolet air disinfection can be used daily, and the floor disinfection should be done twice a day.

5. Observe for bleeding tendency: During chemotherapy, observe the patient's body for bleeding tendency at any time. If there is bleeding tendency, timely treatment measures should be taken.

6. Maintain the indoor temperature and humidity at a moderate level: Maintain a suitable indoor temperature and humidity. If the air is too dry, apply paraffin oil on the patient's nasal mucosa and lips to prevent cracking.

7. Take correct hemostatic measures: When there is a bleeding tendency, hematopoietic drugs should be used according to different situations and anti-infection treatment should be carried out in time.
