How to differentiate hemorrhoids from colon cancer

How to differentiate hemorrhoids from colon cancer

The clinical manifestations of colorectal cancer and hemorrhoids have many similarities, so many people do not pay attention when they experience bloody stools and increased frequency of bowel movements, which can easily lead to delays in the treatment of the disease.

In fact, as long as you observe carefully, there is still a big difference between the two. Patients with blood in the stool can start with the following aspects:

1. Different colors of blood in stool: The blood in stool caused by hemorrhoids is bright red, the toilet paper is sticky with blood, or there is blood dripping or spurting during defecation, while the bleeding from intestinal cancer is mainly caused by friction of the stool, so most of the blood sticks to the surface of the stool or is mixed in the stool. The blood is dark red and contains mucus, presenting as mucous bloody stool. Sometimes there is only blood on the surface of the stool, but blood in the stool does not necessarily occur every time.

2. Stool shape: The stool shape of patients with hemorrhoids generally does not change much, while patients with colorectal cancer often have loose stools, and it is also common for the stool to become thinner or have groove marks.

3. Bowel habits: The bowel habits of patients with hemorrhoids generally do not change much; the bowel habits of patients with colorectal cancer increase significantly and last longer. In fact, it is because the intestines are stimulated by tumor debris, which makes patients always feel the urge to defecate and always feel that they have not defecate completely.

The above is the difference between hemorrhoids and colon cancer. Although hemorrhoids are not as serious as colon cancer, they cannot be ignored in daily life, because every disease may lead to more serious lesions in the end.
