How is bowel cancer staged

How is bowel cancer staged

Colorectal cancer occurs in the gastrointestinal tract and is a malignant intestinal tumor caused by multiple factors. Colorectal cancer staging is a standard used to analyze the severity of colorectal cancer. Clear colorectal cancer staging is very beneficial for the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of colorectal cancer.

Let's take a look at the stages of colorectal cancer! Currently, colorectal cancer is mainly divided into the following 6 stages:

Stage 0: The cancer is in its early stages and is only in the innermost layer of the intestine.

Stage I: Cancer cells have invaded many areas of the colon lining.

Stage II: Cancer cells have spread beyond the intestines to surrounding tissues but have not spread to the lymph nodes.

III: Cancer cells have spread to nearby lymph nodes but not to other parts of the body.

IV: Cancer cells have spread to other parts of the body. Bowel cancer is more likely to metastasize to the liver and lungs first.

Recurrent stage: Recurrent colon cancer means that the cancer comes back after it has been cured. Cancer cells can come back in the intestine or in other parts of the body.

Basically, the prognosis of colorectal cancer is best in stage 0, and surgery combined with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or traditional Chinese medicine can achieve good treatment results. Therefore, early detection and early treatment are the best measures to avoid colorectal cancer. Once symptoms such as painless blood in the stool and suspected early internal hemorrhoids appear, you must not be careless and must go to the hospital for examination and seek treatment from a professional doctor to eliminate the hidden dangers of colorectal cancer.
