Experts introduce to you what is central lung cancer

Among lung cancers, the incidence of central lung cancer is relatively high. Almost more than half of lung cancer patients belong to this type of lung cancer, which is very harmful to patients. So what exactly is central lung cancer ? Let's ask experts to tell you about central lung cancer.

The following is an introduction to central lung cancer:

Central lung cancer refers to lung cancer that occurs above the segmental bronchial opening and close to the hilum of the lung, including the main bronchi, lobar bronchi, and segmental bronchi. Histologically, there are squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and undifferentiated carcinoma. Central lung cancer is mostly squamous cell carcinoma, but it can also be undifferentiated carcinoma, and adenocarcinoma is rare.

Central lung cancer is divided into the following types according to its growth type: 1. Tube wall type: The tumor of this type of central lung cancer infiltrates and grows along the bronchial wall, causing varying degrees of stenosis or obstruction of the lumen. 2. Extra-tubular type: The tumor passes through the bronchial adventitia and forms a mass outside the bronchial wall. 3. Intra-tubular type: The tumor grows from the surface of the bronchial mucosa into the lumen, forming papillae, polyps or cauliflower-like masses, gradually causing bronchial obstruction. Symptoms of central lung cancer. Patients may have coughs, with irritating dry coughs being more common; expectoration, which is mostly bloody sputum and intermittent, and hemoptysis may also occur; shortness of breath, chest pain, dyspnea, and fever may also occur, but the body temperature is usually not too high. Central lung cancer tumors compressing or obstructing the bronchi can cause emphysema or lung collapse; infiltration of the pleura can cause bloody pleural effusions.

Most patients with central lung cancer have a poor prognosis, so early detection and early treatment are crucial. Generally speaking, the treatment of central lung cancer should be based on the patient's comprehensive condition, and appropriate treatment methods should be selected according to different conditions and stages. Early patients should consider surgical resection, including radical and palliative treatments, combined with radiotherapy, chemotherapy and Chinese medicine for adjuvant treatment; in the middle and late stages, conservative treatment can be performed, using Chinese medicine combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy to control tumors and prevent metastasis.
