1. Pay attention to keeping the drainage tube open, which is usually removed about 48 hours after surgery.

2. If drainage is not smooth, blood clots accumulate, and compression symptoms appear, the wound stitches should be removed quickly.

3. Due to the stimulation of endotracheal intubation and laryngeal edema, mild hoarseness and dysphagia may occur after surgery, which can be treated symptomatically.

4. If vomiting occurs after surgery, it should be cleaned up immediately to prevent contaminants from contaminating the wound and dressings.

5. Be careful to keep the neck in a horizontal position and avoid leaning back or bending forward excessively, which may affect normal healing.

6. After the operation, you can gradually transition from liquid food, semi-liquid food to normal food. Pay attention to nutritional balance and avoid irritating food.

7. Actively carry out psychological counseling, enlighten and help patients to overcome pessimism and world-weariness, enhance their confidence in life, and fight against the disease.

8. Keep the surgical site clean and dry, avoid friction, scratching and contact with irritating soaps, alcohol, adhesive tape, etc. Men should avoid shaving their skin and hair.

9. If convulsions of hands and feet, numbness of limbs and lips occur, calcium gluconate or calcium chloride can be injected intravenously. When symptoms are relieved, oral calcium preparations can be used instead, 12 grams each time, 3 times a day, and it can be discontinued only when symptoms are controlled and the condition is stable.
