Experts analyze the clinical manifestations of bone tumors

Generally speaking, benign bone tumors grow slowly, cause mild or no pain, and are difficult to detect in the early stages. They are only discovered when the tumor grows larger or compresses surrounding tissues, the pain worsens, or pathological fractures occur. So, what are the clinical manifestations of bone tumors?

(I) Pain is a major clinical symptom of bone tumors. It cannot be relieved after rest. The pain worsens at night due to reduced external stimulation, especially the pain of malignant bone tumors at night. The pain is more obvious when the patient is not moving, which is the main difference from the pain caused by trauma and inflammatory diseases.

(ii) Lumps often appear as abnormal protrusions on the limbs or trunk. Attention should be paid to the location, size, local temperature, texture, boundaries, tenderness, surface properties, mobility and growth rate of the lump.

(III) Age distribution: The clinical manifestations of bone tumors follow a certain age pattern. There are two age peaks for deaths from malignant tumors in the population. One is between 15 and 20 years old, and the other is between 30 and 75 years old. The first peak is mostly primary malignant tumors. For example, malignant bone tumors in 6-month-old infants are almost all neuroblastomas. Ewing's tumors mostly occur in children, osteosarcoma mostly occurs in adolescents, lymphoma and other small round cell tumors, giant cell tumors of bone, etc. mostly occur in 20 to 40 years old, and multiple myeloma and metastatic tumors are mostly in patients over 50 years old.

(iv) Location characteristics: Some bone tumors have specific clinical manifestations and are prone to occur in specific locations.

The above introduces the clinical symptoms of bone tumors. Malignant tumors grow in an invasive manner and develop rapidly. After the bone cortex is destroyed, it can spread to the surrounding soft tissues. If the tumor is discovered, it should be treated in time.
