How many times a day is normal to urinate

Urination is a physiological activity that everyone performs, and urination is mainly used to expel excess water and toxins from the body. Therefore, urination is a physiological activity that is beneficial to the human body to some extent. However, if a person urinates too frequently in a day, it is necessary to consider whether there is some problem with the urinary system. So how many times does a normal person urinate in a day?

1. How many times a day is normal for a newborn baby to urinate

Babies who urinate frequently urinate once every 1 to 3 hours, while those who urinate infrequently only urinate 4 to 6 times a day. It is generally normal for babies to urinate more than 6 times a day. A normal baby urinates less than 6 times a day, which may be a sign of insufficient milk supply. In addition, the amount of urine produced by babies can be significantly reduced when they are sick, have a fever, or when the temperature is very high. Urinating should not be painful, and if the child cries during urination, the child should be checked by a pediatrician. The urine of a healthy baby is light yellow or dark yellow. The darker the color, the more concentrated the urine is, which means the baby consumes less water.

2. Umbilical cord care for newborns

2.1. Keep the umbilical cord dry. The baby's umbilical cord should be kept dry before it falls off naturally. If the base of the umbilical cord is accidentally wet during bathing, it is best for the mother to wipe the area clean with a clean cotton swab before performing umbilical cord care.

2.2. Do not apply skin cream at will. The baby's umbilical cord is very fragile. Do not apply creams, lotions or oils to the base of the umbilical cord to prevent the umbilical cord from drying out or even causing infection.

3. What to do if the newborn's umbilical cord is bleeding

3.1. Nursing for umbilical cord detachment

Generally, the umbilical cord will dry and fall off about 7-10 days after the baby is born. Generally, within 14 days, most umbilical cords will fall off cleanly and the belly button will dry up quickly. If the baby's belly button is bleeding, parents can gently wipe off the blood with 75% ethanol, and then bandage the baby's belly button with sterilized gauze. It will usually heal after a few days. Since the baby is young, there is no need to use hemostatic drugs, but you should pay attention to keeping the navel dry.

3.2. Keep your belly button clean

There is a lot of secretion from the belly button, so it is best for parents to clean the baby's belly button regularly. Every time after bathing your baby, remember to dry the belly button. You can use a cotton swab dipped in 95% alcohol to wipe the belly button, but do not sprinkle talcum powder around the belly button at will.

How to bathe a newborn baby

1. Wash your hair and face

Wrap the newborn's body with a large towel and let the newborn lie on its back on the adult's left thigh. Wash the newborn's hair first. The adult bathing the newborn holds the newborn's head and neck with his left hand. Use the thumb and middle finger of the left hand to press the auricle on the opening of the external auditory canal from behind the newborn's head like a lid to prevent bath water from flowing into the ear canal. Then use the right hand to wash the newborn's hair.

2. Wash the neck and upper body

First wrap your lower body with a large towel, and use water in the bathtub to wash your neck, armpits, chest, back, arms and hands in turn. Dry them after washing. When washing the upper body, be careful not to let the bath water flow into the navel. Then wrap the newborn's upper body with a large, clean towel.

3. Wash your lower body

At this time, the newborn should lie on the adult's left arm, with his head close to the adult's left chest. Use the left hand to support the newborn's thighs and abdomen, and wash the perineum from front to back, and then wash the groin, buttocks, legs and feet.

4. Apply skin care oil or powder

For example, in the summer, after taking a bath, you can use cotton to dip a little talcum powder or adults can apply a thin layer of talcum powder with their hands and gently apply it on the newborn's skin. Never sprinkle talcum powder directly on the newborn's body.
