Diet and recovery guide after esophageal tumor surgery

Diet and recovery guide after esophageal tumor surgery

Postoperative maintenance is important for patients with esophageal tumors, so that the esophageal tumor can be completely cured. The following introduces the postoperative diet and rehabilitation guidelines for esophageal tumors. I hope that the patients will recover soon.

Dietary Guidelines:

1. In the early stage, try to reduce the stimulation of food on the esophagus and stomach, keep the temperature moderate (about 40-45℃), and avoid fried and spicy food.

2. Drink a small amount of water after eating to flush the esophagus and remove food residues in the esophagus.

3. Do not eat too much and eat less gas-producing foods such as soy products to prevent stomach bloating. After a normal meal, eat more dry rice, steamed bread and other foods to expand the esophageal gastric anastomosis and prevent scar stenosis of the anastomosis.

4. Surgery for esophageal tumors, resection of esophageal lesions, changes in the position of the stomach and the anatomical structure of the digestive tract, feeling full and uncomfortable after eating, indigestion, occasional chest tightness and shortness of breath after a full meal and other lung compression symptoms. You should pay attention to your body position when eating, avoid eating in various lying positions, do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating (after 30 minutes), and do some light activities to facilitate the timely emptying of stomach contents. You should properly raise your pillow when sleeping.

Rehabilitation Guide:

1. If the postoperative pathological examination shows a malignant tumor, the patient needs to go to the oncology department for auxiliary treatment after the operation.

2. Postoperative medication: Metoclopramide (1 tablet/time, 3 times/day in the first month after surgery, 1 tablet/time, 2 times/day in the second month after surgery, 1 tablet/time, 1 time/day in the third month after surgery).

3. Regular check-ups (at least every three months) include chest X-ray, abdominal B-ultrasound, and related laboratory tests. Bring relevant information with you when you come to the hospital for a check-up.

Finally, patients with esophageal cancer should maintain a good mental state and build confidence in defeating the disease.
