Treatment of gastric cancer

Treatment of gastric cancer

The stomach occupies an important part of the human body. Therefore, if you have a stomach tumor, you should treat it in every possible way. So, what are the common treatments for stomach tumors? Let us introduce them in detail.

1. Surgical treatment. Surgery is the main means of treating gastric cancer and is currently the only possible cure. With the advancement of medicine, the implementation of minimally invasive and function-preserving individualized surgical treatment plans is the development trend of tumor surgery today, while striving to cure the tumor. The treatment of gastric cancer is no exception, and Japan has accumulated a lot of experience in this regard. There are not many hospitals in China that can perform laparoscopic radical resection of gastric cancer. It is reported that patients who undergo laparoscopic surgery can recover their gastrointestinal function 48 hours after surgery, and can start eating and getting out of bed. The average postoperative hospital stay is only about 1 week, which is obviously superior.

2. Adjuvant therapy. Tumor treatment is a comprehensive treatment. In addition to surgery, there are other adjuvant treatments. Adjuvant therapy should be carried out according to the patient's pathological diagnosis, tumor stage and physical condition. It is a common treatment method for gastric tumors. Adjuvant therapy for gastric cancer includes postoperative radiotherapy, chemotherapy and preoperative chemotherapy. In the past decade, research on adjuvant chemotherapy has gradually tended to affirm the efficacy of postoperative chemotherapy. Further analysis found that adjuvant chemotherapy tends to be effective for postoperative patients in stage III. And there is still great potential to improve the efficacy of gastric cancer. Postoperative radiotherapy. Radiotherapy alone cannot improve survival, but it can significantly reduce the local recurrence rate. According to foreign literature reports, the combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy can improve survival, but the toxic and side effects are greater. China is still cautious about this. Preoperative chemotherapy, also known as neoadjuvant chemotherapy, is generally used for cases with later local lesions. The purpose of chemotherapy is to reduce the stage and grade of the tumor, facilitate resection and reduce postoperative recurrence.
