What causes esophageal cancer

What causes esophageal cancer

In recent years, esophageal cancer has become one of the major diseases that endangers society and human health, and it has brought great pain and distress to humans. In order to reduce the incidence of esophageal cancer, we humans should understand the causes of esophageal cancer:

1. Nitrosamines Nitrosamine compounds are a class of strong carcinogens. Among more than 100 kinds of nitrosamines, more than a dozen can cause esophageal cancer in various animals. In areas with a high incidence of esophageal cancer, it was found that residents ingested different amounts of nitrosamines in their diets, and it was also proven that the amount of nitrosamines ingested from the diet was positively correlated with the incidence of esophageal cancer. Some nitrosamines can specifically cause esophageal cancer in animals. The content of nitrosamine compounds in the gastric juice of people in high-incidence areas is significantly higher than that in low-incidence areas.

2. Molds Various molds were isolated from sauerkraut, steamed corn bread, and cornmeal in high-incidence areas, and the rate of grain mold contamination was significantly higher than that in low-incidence areas. The holly stolonifer and alternariae separated from grains had a mutagenic effect, and the toxins produced could cause chromosomal aberrations. Molds and nitrosamines have a synergistic carcinogenic effect.

3. Nutrition, vitamins and trace elements The lack of certain vitamins and trace elements creates certain conditions for the onset of esophageal cancer. Esophagitis, atypical cell hyperplasia and severe hyperplasia are more common in high-incidence areas, which is related to the low intake of protein, fruits and vegetables in high-incidence areas.

The above are the causes of esophageal cancer.
