There are various kinds of blackout cloths on the market now. Different blackout cloths have different materials, so everyone needs to understand some of the benefits and functions of blackout cloths. However, when choosing blackout cloths, you should also pay attention to choosing good blackout cloths according to the type and material of the blackout cloth. Not all blackout cloths are harmful to the body. Let me introduce to you how to distinguish harmful blackout cloths.

There are four main types of blackout cloth materials: blackout coated flocked cloth, silver coated blackout cloth, pure woven blackout cloth, and base cloth plus PVC composite cloth. The unqualified products are all made of flocked cloth with a light-blocking coating. This type of light-blocking cloth is made by coating a thicker layer of light-blocking resin on the grey cloth, and then adding a layer of flocked cloth on the resin layer. The light-shielding coated flocking cloth has a good feel and good light-shielding effect, but due to the coating finishing, it is easy to have excessive formaldehyde content. This kind of blackout cloth emits a pungent odor under strong sunlight.

In order to improve the wrinkle resistance, waterproof and fire resistance, pressure resistance and color fastness of fabrics, some manufacturers often add common additives such as artificial resins to fabrics. During the printing, dyeing and finishing process, various dyes, auxiliaries and finishing agents are added, all of which may contain formaldehyde.

Environmental testing agencies remind that you should be environmentally conscious when purchasing curtains, as cheap goods may be inexpensive but cannot guarantee safety. It is recommended to buy pure woven blackout cloth with black silk in the middle. This product is not prone to formaldehyde problems and is a green and environmentally friendly blackout cloth. The material is cotton and it has high density so you can use it with confidence. If you feel a sticky foreign body sensation in your hand and there is an unpleasant smell, don't buy it.
