Indicators after unilateral surgery for thyroid cancer

The postoperative indicators of unilateral thyroid cancer mainly include thyroid function, blood routine, liver and kidney function, etc. Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor, and surgery is the main treatment method, but a series of examinations are still needed after surgery to determine whether the patient has recurrence or metastasis.

1. Thyroid function: Thyroid function tests are usually required before surgery, including thyroid stimulating hormone, free triiodothyronine, free tetraiodothyronine, etc. If these indicators are normal, it indicates that hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism has not occurred. After surgery, the above indicators need to be rechecked. If all indicators are normal, it indicates that hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism has not occurred;

2. Routine blood test: Routine blood test mainly observes the number and morphological changes of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. If all indicators are within the normal range, it indicates that there is no infection. However, if the white blood cell count increases or decreases, and the red blood cell count decreases, it indicates that there may be an infection;

3. Liver and kidney function: Liver and kidney function tests mainly observe the function of the liver and kidneys. If all indicators are within the normal range, it indicates that there is no liver and kidney damage. However, if the transaminase level is elevated, it indicates that there may be liver damage;

4. Others: In addition to the above indicators, imaging examinations such as ultrasound, CT, and bone scans can also be performed to determine whether there is local recurrence or distant metastasis.
