Treatment should focus on strengthening the spleen and eliminating dampness, as well as tonifying the kidney. People with weak fire should pay attention to supplementing yin-nourishing foods such as white fungus, lily, lotus seeds, yam, and turtle meat. They should avoid consuming raw and cold drinks and various cold foods. Most oral ulcers seen clinically are caused by deficiency syndrome. This type of patients should avoid eating raw, cold and spicy food. Raw and cold food damages the spleen and stomach, while spicy food increases fire.

2. How to treat oral ulcers of deficiency-fire type

Oral ulcers of deficiency-fire type can be treated by taking Liuwei Dihuang Pills, Zhibai Dihuang Pills, Qiju Dihuang Pills, etc. It should be noted that after the ulcer has healed completely, you need to continue taking the medicine for two more days to consolidate the therapeutic effect. Some people like to take lozenges, such as Xigua Frost lozenges, Huasu tablets, Yiketie, etc. Most Chinese medicine lozenges like Xigua Frost are made of bitter, cold, sore throat and swelling-reducing Chinese medicines. They are cold in nature and are not suitable for people with virtual fire type oral ulcers.

Many lozenges also contain antibiotics. If taken for a long time, they will change the oral environment, disrupt the dynamic balance of oral flora, lead to dysbiosis, and easily induce oral infection. Therefore, lozenges containing antibiotics must be used under the guidance of a doctor and only when it is determined that oral ulcers are caused by bacterial infection. The usage period is generally 5 to 7 days.
