Things to note after thigh liposuction

Many people are very dissatisfied with their body shape, so they will try to find ways to lose weight, such as liposuction. This is actually a very effective way to lose weight, but if this method is used frequently, it will have a great impact on your body. There are also many precautions after this operation, and postoperative care must be done well, otherwise it will cause very serious consequences.

Before surgery

1. When using tumescent anesthesia or intravenous sedation anesthesia with "milk", you should fast (including boiled water) at least eight hours before the operation.

2. Do not smoke two weeks before surgery and do not take aspirin, hormones or other drugs three days before surgery to reduce postoperative bruising.

3. The patient should first consult with a plastic surgeon to understand which parts of the body need liposuction and the amount of fat that can be removed.

4. The patient should ask the doctor about the basic process of liposuction, possible problems and related countermeasures.

5. The patient should undergo necessary laboratory tests, such as routine blood and urine tests, electrocardiogram, liver function tests, etc.

6. Women should avoid taking drugs during the menstrual period. Patients who take anticoagulants, vasodilators and hormone drugs for a long time should stop taking them for 2 weeks.

7. Individuals should prepare elastic pants or abdominal bands with good elasticity before surgery.

8. The patient should stop taking supplements and health products such as American ginseng and Panax ginseng within one month before and after the operation.

After surgery

1. After liposuction surgery, surgical complications such as congestion, edema, skin numbness, and subcutaneous nodules may occur, which generally disappear in 1 to 2 weeks.

2. Subcutaneous hematoma: There will be subcutaneous hematoma in the suction area after liposuction surgery. It is usually the heaviest in 3 to 4 days, gradually disappears in 7 to 14 days, and can last for more than 20 days in the elderly.

3. Subcutaneous nodules: After liposuction , some nodules may be felt or the entire suction area may become hardened. This is caused by damage to the subcutaneous tissue, formation of scar nodules or hematoma organization, and fat liquefaction. It usually absorbs and softens within three to six months. In some patients, subcutaneous nodules persist for a long time.

4. Edema: Excessive fluid retention in the extracellular space after liposuction can lead to edema, which is caused by increased capillary filtration and lymphatic return disorder. The calves are most severely affected, last a long time, and gradually subside within half a year; edema in other parts of the body is mild and subsides faster.

5. Skin numbness or pain: Skin numbness and pain may occur after aspiration surgery. This is caused by temporary traumatic sensory neuritis. It is generally a temporary phenomenon and will gradually recover within 3 months to half a year.

6. Pigmentation: Some patients have pigmentation in the suction area after surgery. This is caused by the deposition of hemosiderin or the increase of melanin in epidermal cells, which can gradually disappear within a few months. When pigmentation persists for a long time, depigmenting drugs such as hydroquinone cream, banke cream or kojic acid cream should be used.

7. Skin scars: The surgical incision for liposuction is generally about 1 cm, and the scar is not obvious. Syringe-based liposuction leaves a very small scar at the puncture site, which will gradually disappear after 1 to 2 years.
