Maternity sleeping posture

Maternity sleeping posture

The sleeping posture of the mother is helpful to her physical recovery. Whether it is a natural birth or a caesarean section, the sleeping posture is important. It is best for women who give birth naturally to sleep on their side, which can avoid pressure on the wound and also help protect the uterus. After two weeks of pregnancy, mothers can try lying on their stomachs and adjust according to their physical conditions. After giving birth, you should pay attention to rest more and do appropriate exercise.

Is there any particular sleeping position after childbirth?

Whether the mother has a caesarean section or a natural birth, her sleeping position after delivery is very important. It is best not to maintain the supine sleeping position after delivery, but to alternate between supine and side-lying positions. This can reduce damage to the cesarean section wound and reduce the incidence of uterine displacement.

Correct sleeping position after childbirth

Sleeping posture after childbirth is indeed very important, because incorrect sleeping posture after childbirth can easily lead to uterine displacement. For example, if you always sleep in a supine position, it can easily lead to the uterus falling back, causing postpartum low back pain, increased leucorrhea, and not conducive to the discharge of lochia. After a normal delivery, the mother will have a slight tear in the perineum, and in some cases, a wound will be left on the outside of the perineum. The correct sleeping position for a mother after a normal delivery is to lie on her side, avoiding pressure on the side with the wound. Try to avoid lying on your back. After giving birth, the sutures have cracked, which will cause the pelvis to become wide. Lying on your side will prevent the sutures from cracking further and make it easier for them to return to their previous level. But be careful when breastfeeding and do not squeeze your breasts when lying on your side.

Correct sleeping position after cesarean section

For women who undergo cesarean section, the effect of anesthetics disappears after the operation and they feel pain in the wound. The supine position is most sensitive to the pain of uterine contraction, so they should adopt the side-lying position, 1-2 times a day, each time for about 15 minutes. Place a quilt or blanket behind your back to reduce vibration and tension on the incision when you move your body.

Precautions

1 During the rest period, the mother should avoid lying on her back for a long time, and should alternate between lying on her side and lying on her back. You can start lying on your stomach 2 weeks after delivery, 1 to 2 times a day, each time for about 15 minutes. In addition, you can eat small meals frequently and drink more soup to help produce milk. Eat more fruits and vegetables to supplement the vitamins needed by the human body. Breastfeeding mothers should also supplement calcium.

2 After giving birth, you must rest at home, pay attention to sleep, and don't let yourself get tired again, but never lie in bed all day. Generally, you can get out of bed and do some light activities 3 days after delivery. You should insist on proper physical exercise during the confinement period, and you can do some postpartum yoga. From the second day after delivery, you can comb your hair, brush your teeth, and rinse your mouth, but try not to touch cold water
