The efficacy and use of rat bags

Mouse bag is also known as rice bag, a perennial herb of the genus Rice Bag in the Leguminosae family, 4-20 cm tall. The whole plant is covered with long white hairs, which become less numerous after the fruiting period. The main root is conical or cylindrical, stout, unbranched or slightly branched, with a shortened stem or rhizome at the upper end.

1. Stems and leaves

The peduncles are extremely shortened, and the leaves and peduncles are clustered on the peduncles. Stipules persistent, broadly triangular below, narrowly triangular above, connate at base, densely white long hairs outside; leaves only 2-5 cm long in early spring, up to 15 cm in summer and autumn, some even up to 23 cm, early leaves with long hairs, later leaves with sparse hairs, even almost glabrous; petiole grooved; leaflets 7-21, elliptic to oblong, ovate to oblong, sometimes lanceolate, apical leaflet sometimes obovate, (4.5) 10-14 (-25) mm long, (1.5) 5-8 (-10) mm wide, base rounded, apex apiculate, acute, obtuse, slightly emarginate or concave into an arc.

2. Flowers

The umbel has 2-6 flowers; the peduncle is grooved and covered with long soft hairs, slightly longer than the leaves during flowering, and about the same length as the leaves or shorter than the leaves after flowering; the bracts are triangular linear, 2-4 mm long, and the pedicel is 1-3.5 mm long; the calyx is campanulate, 7-8 mm long, covered with appressed long soft hairs, the upper 2 calyx teeth are the largest, the same length as the calyx tube, the lower 3 calyx teeth are smaller, and the lowest one is the smallest; the corolla is violet, the standard petal is 13 mm long, 8 mm wide, obovate, entire, slightly emarginate at the apex, and gradually narrowed at the base into a petal stalk, the wing petals are 10 mm long, 3 mm wide, obliquely obovate, with short ears, the petal stalk is 3 mm long, the keel petal is 6 mm long, 2 mm wide, obovate, and the petal stalk is 2.5 mm long; the ovary is elliptical, densely covered with appressed long soft hairs, the style is glabrous, involute, and the top is swollen into a round stigma. The pods are cylindrical, 17-22 mm long, 3-4 mm in diameter, and covered with long soft hairs; the seeds are triangular-reniform, about 1.8 mm in diameter, and have pits. Flowering period is April. Fruiting period is May-June.

It has the effect of clearing away heat and detoxifying, and can be used in combination to treat tonsillitis.
