Size of hepatic hemangioma

Among various tumors, hepatic hemangioma is a relatively common one, but this type of tumor is generally benign. Therefore, patients should not worry when they are diagnosed with this problem. They only need to undergo a physical examination as required by the doctor and closely observe the growth of the tumor. Hepatic hemangioma will only be surgically removed when it grows to a certain size, and the enlarged tumor will have a certain impact on the gastrointestinal tract, causing symptoms.

Overview

Hepatic hemangioma is a benign tumor. There are four main types: cavernous hemangioma, sclerosing hemangioma, hemangioendothelioma, and capillary hemangioma. Cavernous hemangioma is the most common type, and most of them have no obvious symptoms. However, if the tumor grows to a certain extent, some discomfort symptoms will appear. Therefore, patients need to understand how big a hemangioma should be before it needs treatment. Here I will introduce to you what methods should be used to prevent and treat hepatic hemangiomas of different sizes.

Steps/Methods:

1. If the hepatic hemangioma is large, some symptoms will appear, such as abdominal mass, gastrointestinal discomfort, compression symptoms, and in severe cases, the tumor may rupture and bleed. Therefore, some hepatic hemangiomas that need treatment still need timely treatment.

2. Generally speaking, for hepatic hemangiomas with a diameter of less than 5 cm, no treatment is required and regular check-ups and follow-up are sufficient. For hepatic hemangiomas with a diameter greater than 5-10 cm, surgical treatment can be considered. For those with a diameter greater than 10 cm, it is best to undergo surgical treatment in a timely manner.

3. Hello, for patients with hepatic hemangioma who need treatment, the surgical methods are generally divided into: hepatic hemangioma resection or hepatic lobectomy; or hepatic artery ligation; or intraoperative cryotherapy. In addition, non-surgical treatment options include radiotherapy, hepatic artery angiography, and tumor artery embolization.

Note:

Hello, patients with hepatic hemangioma should not eat irritating foods. Eat more nutritious, multi-vitamin and easily digestible foods, as well as fats from fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not eat stale, spoiled or irritating foods, as well as smoked, grilled, pickled, fried foods, or too salty foods.
