What medicine should I take for apical periodontitis

What medicine should I take for apical periodontitis

Apical periodontitis is a relatively common disease. Patients mainly undergo several treatments. They can choose root canal treatment or local treatment to speed up the healing of the wound surface. If there is an abscess, incision and drainage are required. It is difficult to cure it completely if the pus is not squeezed out. It cannot be treated during the inflammation period, and a healthy diet regimen is required in a short period of time.

Medication

1. Acute apical periodontitis:

(1) Open pulp drainage.

(2) Incision and drainage of the abscess.

(3) Adjust the high cusp under local anesthesia to prevent traumatic occlusion.

(4) Root canal treatment.

2. Chronic apical periodontitis:

(1) Root canal treatment

(2) Apical resection

(3) Curettage of apical cyst.

The inflammatory pain of apical periodontitis can be relieved and analgesic after anti-inflammatory treatment, which is different from trigeminal neuralgia.

Diet and health care

Apical periodontitis is often accompanied by toothache, so it is not suitable to eat spicy and irritating foods.

1. Cured: No symptoms and signs for at least 1 year after treatment; X-rays show normal periapical period.

2. Improvement: After treatment, the pain disappears, the swelling or ulcers disappear, and X-rays show that the periapical lesions are significantly reduced.

3. Unhealed: After treatment, fistulas are formed or there is recurrent swelling and pain, and periapical lesions do not shrink.

The most important thing to prevent dental diseases is daily teeth cleaning: brush your teeth correctly, use the up and down vertical brushing method, brush your teeth in the morning and evening, and brush each tooth surface 8-10 times; rinse your mouth after meals; use dental floss to clean the spaces between adjacent teeth; chew xylitol gum for about 20 minutes; change to a new toothbrush every month; see a dentist every 3 months, treat illnesses if they exist, and prevent them if they don't; pay attention to the amount of fluoride toothpaste used (especially for children), generally a pea-sized amount is enough; brush your teeth with appropriate force, and replace the toothbrush if the bristles are turned outward; if you do not have periodontal disease, go to the dentist for a teeth cleaning once a year, and go to a dentist with good disinfection facilities to avoid infection with hepatitis B and AIDS; in addition, be careful to drink less carbonated beverages.
