Is the scent of lily poisonous?

As modern living conditions continue to improve, people no longer worry about food and clothing, and begin to pay attention to physical and mental pleasure. Many families or women begin to cultivate flowers and plants and learn baking in their spare time. Lily is a popular choice for indoor planting. Its color is not too bright but soothing. The fragrance of lily is not strong. However, some people worry that the fragrance of lily is poisonous. The fragrance of lily may cause insomnia.

The fragrance released by lilies when they bloom is slightly toxic and may cause symptoms such as insomnia. Some people will feel nauseous and vomit when they smell the scent of lilies, which proves that they are quite sensitive to the toxicity of that flower and it is best not to grow it. People with allergies, heart problems and poor sleep should not place lilies indoors. Lilies have brightly colored flowers, a light and elegant fragrance, and edible bulbs, making them an excellent tonic. However, flowers contain a peculiar stimulant. Although the content is low, if it accumulates in the bedroom for a long time and is smelled, it can also cause people to have "flower drunkenness" symptoms, making people overly excited, restless, and even unable to sleep at night. It should not be taken lightly.

Lilies can be grown indoors because they have large corollas and strong fragrance. If you place a pot in a corner of the room, you can smell its fragrance throughout the room. Lilies have an elegant taste, but you can't place too many lilies just because they are beautiful, otherwise the effect will be counterproductive. Generally, you can choose a combination of 5 lilies in a pot and place them near doors, windows and other upwind locations to facilitate the spread of fragrance. However, lilies are afraid of wind and cannot be blown by the wind.

The flowering period of lily is relatively short, about half a month at an indoor temperature of about 15 degrees. After the flowers fade, the leaves have little ornamental value, and it is not easy for ordinary families to grow flowers again. The indoor temperature seriously affects the flowering period of lilies. The main thing about raising lilies is to control the indoor temperature. If the indoor temperature is too high, it may only take one night for the buds to bloom. When the lily is halfway open and you can put your fingers into it, you should gently pick off the stamens to prevent pollen from falling onto the petals and forming orange spots.

If there is someone in your family who is allergic to pollen, then don’t grow lilies, or in other words, don’t grow flowers that carry pollen.
