What is the best time for cupping

There are certain requirements for the timing of cupping. Try not to choose hot weather or cupping on an empty stomach. This will not do any good to your body. Cupping must be done under the guidance of a doctor to avoid burns to your skin during the process. Do not take a shower immediately after cupping.

1. Cupping method

Key points of the flash fire method: Use tweezers to hold the alcohol cotton ball and light it, then circle it inside the can and then pull it out; quickly place the can over the part to be pulled out, and it will be sucked.

2. Application of cupping

(1) After the cup is adsorbed on the body surface, it is suctioned and left in the treatment area, usually for 5 to 10 minutes. It is often used for wind-cold-dampness arthralgia, neck, shoulder, waist and leg pain.

(2) Apply linseed oil to the mouth of the cup. After the cup is sucked, hold the bottom of the cup with your hand and push and pull it up and down several times until the skin flushes. It is used for large areas with thick muscles, such as the waist and back. It is mostly used for colds, coughs and other diseases.

(3) After the flash cup is pulled out, take it off immediately and repeat the process several times until the skin becomes flushed. It is mostly used for facial paralysis.

(4) Blood-pricking and cupping: First, use a plum blossom needle or a three-edged needle to tap or prick the local area to cause bleeding; then cupping is performed to cause 3 to 5 ml of bleeding in the cup; it is often used for skin diseases such as acne.

3. Cupping precautions

(1) Operation taboos: When cupping, do not burn the cup mouth with fire, otherwise it will burn the skin; the cupping time should not exceed 20 minutes, otherwise it will damage the skin.

(2) Cupping is not suitable for areas with skin allergies, ulcers, edema, the heart, large blood vessels, and lower abdomen.

The patient lies in prone position, and the doctor applies appropriate amount of herbal oil on the skin of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the outer upper edge of the trapezius muscle in the neck and shoulders that are sore, numb, and painful. The doctor then attaches the cupping jar to the skin and pushes the cupping jar back and forth on the affected area until purple-red or purple-black spots appear on the local skin. After moving the cupping needle, use a three-edged needle to prick the sha points locally, select a fire cup with a moderate diameter and use the flash fire method to cupping the above-mentioned parts, leaving the cup for about 10 minutes, each place bleeds about 2 to 3 ml, once every other day, 5 times as a course of treatment.
