Can I wash my hair if I have chickenpox

Chickenpox is a very common disease. Generally, the course of chickenpox takes about a week. However, if you want to wash your hair, it is best not to wash your hair when the chickenpox has not scabped. If you accidentally scratch the chickenpox, it will cause infection, and chickenpox is also contagious. Therefore, it is best not to wash your hair, keep your skin dry and clean, and don't eat spicy food.

How to care for chickenpox

The contagious period of chickenpox is 2-5 days before the rash appears and 5-6 days after the rash appears. Once a child with chickenpox is diagnosed, he or she should be isolated at home immediately until all scabs have formed. Chickenpox patients can get some fresh air. Although the symptoms of chickenpox are mild and generally recover smoothly, it is highly contagious. When the child has a fever, let him/her rest, eat nutritious and easily digestible food, and drink plenty of boiled water and fruit juice. At the same time, instruct and manage the sick children not to scratch the herpes with their hands, especially be careful not to scratch the herpes on the face, so as to avoid the herpes being scratched and infected with pus. If the lesions are deep, they may leave scars. To prevent this from happening, keep your child's nails short and keep their hands clean. You can sew a pair of gloves with the raw edges facing outwards and wear them on the sick child's hands. If the herpes breaks, apply 1% gentian violet. If there is suppuration, apply antibiotic ointment.

Chickenpox is a common infectious disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus. Chickenpox is a manifestation of the acute invasion phase of the virus, while herpes zoster is a manifestation of reactivation of the latent phase. There are two main routes of transmission:

1. Respiratory tract infection. When you have chickenpox, the virus is present in the herpes fluid, blood and oral secretions. So if your baby has chickenpox, coughing and sneezing may cause infection to the children and adults around him.

Chickenpox is prone to spread in groups such as nurseries and kindergartens.

2. Transmission through contact. Contact with eating utensils, toys, bedding and towels contaminated with the varicella virus can cause infection, so varicella often spreads among children in nurseries, kindergartens, etc. It is worth mentioning that chickenpox cannot be transmitted indirectly through immune third parties.

Chickenpox is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is spread through droplets, such as sneezing, and close contact with infected people. Generally speaking, babies between 0 and 6 months old have antibodies from their mothers and have a lower incidence rate. Preschool children between 2 and 6 years old are the peak incidence group. Moreover, chickenpox is extremely contagious. If your baby has chickenpox, you must pay attention to care to avoid infecting other children or family members. So, how long is chickenpox contagious?

Under normal circumstances, the virus disappears only after the chickenpox scabs, so the infectious period is from 24 hours before the rash appears to the scabs of the lesions, which is about 7 to 8 days. Of course, the length of the infectious period also depends on individual differences and personal constitution, and is a maximum of 2 weeks. During the infectious period, chickenpox patients should minimize contact with others, and do not scratch the chickenpox by themselves, as scratching the chickenpox will leave scars! Chickenpox rash is contagious before it scabs and dries, so do not relax your vigilance when the scabs have formed but have not dried yet. If a baby has chickenpox, the child must be isolated and put in bed to rest early, and the child must be given high-calorie, easily digestible food and plenty of water. In addition, parents should also pay attention to trimming the child's nails to prevent scratching of sores, change clothes frequently, and keep the skin clean and hygienic until the chickenpox subsides.
