What is the normal vision of an 8-year-old child?

For children, since they do not use their eyes as much as adults or older children, their eyesight is generally much better than that of other people. However, due to children's love for electronic products in modern society, many children suffer from myopia. Therefore, many parents will worry about whether their children are nearsighted, which has a significant impact on their children's lives. So how much myopia is considered normal for an eight-year-old child?

The vision of an 8-year-old child should be normal, that is, above 5.0, or even 5.2 or better.

It is recommended to pay attention to changes in children's vision and refractive power. Children generally have mild hyperopia, which can protect children from myopia. The adjustment function of children's eyes is very good, and mild hyperopia can be compensated by adjustment. Of course, if a child has high hyperopia, there must be a problem and they need to wear glasses for correction and provide visual training. If the child is nearsighted, no vision training will be given.

Care about your child's health, pay attention to your child's daily life, and increase the time your child spends outdoors. One hour of outdoor exercise every day can effectively reduce the possibility of your child developing myopia.

Note:

1. Have regular eye examinations every 6 months. If myopia is found, please give your child glasses as soon as possible and insist on wearing them all day.

2. Tell your children not to read too close, at least 30 cm away, and at least 3 meters away from TV. If conditions permit, it will be better to keep the distance at 4 to 5 meters.

3. Provide good lighting conditions to give children easy vision and reduce indoor reflections. Try not to use glass desktops for homework. It is recommended to choose matte desktops for children to use.

4. Take a 2-3 minute break after every 30 minutes of close eye use, such as reading or using a computer. When you are resting, you should look into the distance, that is, look at objects as far away as possible. If you live in a high-rise building, you can look out the window to see things in the distance.

5. Reasonably arrange the entertainment time for television, computers and portable game devices. It is better to guide children to use them than to prohibit them from using them.

6. Insist on outdoor exercise for more than one hour every day. Outdoor exercise is very important for controlling children's myopia. In outdoor sports, children generally actively participate in distance vision activities. Basketball, football, badminton, climbing, etc. can allow children to use their distance vision as much as possible. Using distance vision more often can slow the progression of myopia. Nowadays, most children suffer from myopia, which is related to long-term close-range eye use. Children in Europe and the United States have fewer myopia than Chinese children, but more hyperopia than Chinese children because they pay attention to outdoor sports for their children.
