Function of Weizhong acupoint

In fact, when treating diseases, Chinese medicine prefers to use massage therapy, because this treatment method not only makes patients feel particularly comfortable, but also does not cause pain to patients. The effect of treating diseases is also more obvious. The main principle used is that if there is no pain, there will be pain, and if there is no pain, there will be no pain. As long as the blood and veins in the body are unblocked, the pain of the body will be relieved. So what are the functions of the Weizhong acupoint in the body?

The exact location of Weizhong acupoint

The Weizhong point is located at the midpoint of the popliteal crease, between the biceps femoris tendon and the semitendinosus tendon, that is, the center of the inner side of the knee.

Acupuncture point selection method

The patient should adopt a prone position for acupuncture. The Weizhong point is located at the midpoint of the popliteal crease, between the biceps femoris tendon and the semitendinosus tendon, that is, the center of the inner side of the knee.

In prone position, locate the acupoint in the center of the popliteal fossa transverse line, between the biceps femoris tendon and the semitendinosus tendon.

Located behind the knee, at the midpoint of the popliteal crease, it can be obtained while lying prone.

Physiological anatomy

In the middle of the popliteal fossa, there is the popliteal fascia; subcutaneously there is the femoral popliteal vein, the deep inner side is the popliteal vein, and the deepest layer is the popliteal artery with the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve, right at the tibial nerve.

Layered anatomy: skin → subcutaneous tissue → between the medial and lateral heads of the gastrocnemius muscle.

Below the Weizhong point are the skin, subcutaneous tissue, popliteal fossa, and oblique popliteal ligament. There is the femoral popliteal vein subcutaneously, the popliteal vein deep inside, and the popliteal artery at the deepest layer. The posterior femoral cutaneous nerve and tibial nerve are distributed here. The skin is supplied by the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve, and the skin of the popliteal fossa is softer. The small saphenous vein originates from the lateral side of the dorsal venous network of the foot, ascends through the posterior and inferior part of the lateral malleolus to the back of the calf, penetrates the popliteal fascia and is injected into the popliteal vein. The popliteal fascia is dense and thick. In the center of the popliteal fossa, from superficial to deep, there are the tibial nerve, popliteal vein, and popliteal artery. The common peroneal nerve passes near the lateral edge of the popliteal fossa. The popliteal artery and vein are surrounded by connective tissue. The artery is close to the femur and gives off five articular branches in the popliteal fossa, namely the medial and lateral superior popliteal artery, the middle popliteal artery, and the medial and lateral inferior popliteal artery. They anastomose with the superior popliteal artery, anterior recurrent tibial artery, etc., and together participate in the knee joint network.

Function of Weizhong acupoint

The significance of Weizhong point: The damp and hot water vapor of the bladder meridian gathers here.

Characteristics of Qi and blood: The substances of Qi and blood are moist and hot water vapor, that is, the gaseous substance of blood.

Operation rules: Most of the heat is dissipated and returns to the ground after cooling down, and a small part absorbs heat and goes up to the Weiyang acupoint.

Functions and effects: Clears away heat and cools blood, relaxes muscles and activates collaterals, relieves heat and clears away summer heat, cools blood and detoxifies. It has the effects of clearing heat and cooling blood, relaxing muscles and dredges, and eliminating rheumatism.
