What to do if you can't sleep due to altitude sickness

We all know that in my country's Xinjiang and Tibet regions, due to its relatively high geographical location, many people from the mainland will experience altitude sickness when they go to remote areas. General altitude sickness will cause dizziness, nausea and vomiting. Some people will also have trouble sleeping due to altitude sickness. In fact, the most important thing to overcome altitude sickness is to adjust your mentality. So what should you do if you can't sleep due to altitude sickness?

Steps/Methods:

1 It is normal to be unable to sleep in plateau areas because the oxygen content in the air is low, which triggers altitude sickness. Also, when you are new to a place, your nerves are more excited. The combination of the two makes it easy to suffer from insomnia. If you have no other physical discomfort, it is recommended that you take some sleeping pills to relieve the symptoms.

2 Because if you don’t sleep well, it will easily aggravate the altitude sickness, so you can consult a local doctor and ask him to prescribe some sleeping pills for you to take before going to bed, and then maintain a good attitude, because a good attitude is the best way to fight altitude sickness.

3. When you first arrive at the plateau, do not do high-intensity activities such as jogging or running, do not do physical labor, and do not overeat, as this will increase the burden on your body. Do not drink alcohol or smoke, and eat more vegetables, fruits and other foods rich in vitamins.

Also share some precautions

⑴ Treat your trip to the plateau with a normal attitude.

⑵ Keep warm and take fewer baths to avoid catching a cold. The plateau climate is cold, with a large temperature difference between day and night. When the body catches a cold, it is easy to suffer from respiratory infections and easily induce acute mountain sickness.

⑶ Avoid strenuous activities and heavy physical labor in the first two days. Do not walk fast, let alone jogging or running.

⑷ Do not overeat to avoid increasing the burden on the digestive organs. It is advisable to eat more high-sugar, high-quality protein foods in the diet to help overcome the adverse effects of hypoxia.

⑸ No smoking, no drinking or drinking less alcohol to reduce oxygen consumption.

Precautions

In addition, if the altitude sickness is more severe, you can take some medicines to relieve altitude sickness, such as Rhodiola rosea, Gaoyuan'an, American ginseng lozenges, Baifuning, etc. These medicines can effectively relieve altitude sickness.
