Can early stage nasopharyngeal cancer be cured?

Can early stage nasopharyngeal cancer be cured?

I believe that most people don’t know much about nasopharyngeal cancer and haven’t heard much about it. According to relevant experts, in general, the incidence rate in men is higher than in women. Although nasopharyngeal cancer is a type of cancer with relatively mild symptoms, it can also threaten people’s lives if it develops to a certain extent.

Can early-stage nasopharyngeal cancer be cured? If you want to cure nasopharyngeal cancer, you need to understand its symptoms. So, what are the specific symptoms of nasal polyps?

1. In the early stage of nasal polyps, the patient will always have nasal mucus that cannot be rubbed out, and obvious nasal congestion at night, which causes mouth breathing. Over time, chronic pharyngitis and other pharyngitis will develop.

2. Patients will have severe nasal congestion, which is mostly persistent. Vasoconstrictor nasal drops generally have no obvious therapeutic effect, and sneezing is rare. However, if there is allergic inflammation of the nasal mucosa, sneezing and clear nasal discharge may also occur.

3. The nasal secretions of patients with nasal polyps are mostly serous, and if an infection occurs, there may be purulent secretions.

4. The continued growth of nasal polyps will make the symptoms of nasal congestion more severe, and will also cause headaches, dizziness, and decreased sense of smell. It may even lead to a complete loss of sense of smell.

5. If a giant polyp blocks the posterior nasal cavity or even protrudes into the nasopharynx, it may also cause hearing loss.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma refers to a malignant tumor originating from the nasopharyngeal mucosal epithelium and glands. It often occurs at the top of the posterior wall of the nasopharynx, followed by the side wall. It is extremely rare for it to occur at the front wall and bottom wall. Most of the patients are middle-aged people, but there are also teenagers who are sick.

Although nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients are found in many countries and regions on the five continents, the incidence rate is low in most parts of the world, generally below 1/100,000. The incidence rate of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is higher in southern China, especially in Zhaoqing, Foshan and Guangzhou in the central and western parts of Guangdong. The incidence rate in Sihui, Zhaoqing is 25.12/100,000 for men and 12.11/100,000 for women; in Zhongshan, it is 21.73/100,000 for men and 8.66/100,000 for women; in Hong Kong, it is 24.3/100,000 for men and 10.2/100,000 for women. It is reported that the incidence rate of men living in central Guangdong Province and speaking Cantonese is 30-50/100,000. As far as the whole country is concerned, the incidence rate of nasopharyngeal carcinoma gradually decreases from south to north, such as the incidence rate in the northernmost part is no higher than 2-3/100,000.

Since the early symptoms of rhinitis are relatively hidden, people may not easily discover them and may even confuse them with other diseases. Therefore, in most cases, the best time for treatment is missed. Our article today introduces the early symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer. This disease can still be cured in the early stages.
