Is a fetal heart rate below 150 normal?

During the pregnancy, pregnant women must go to the hospital for regular prenatal checkups. Different examination items need to be done at different stages of pregnancy. In the middle of pregnancy, it is generally necessary to start checking the fetal heartbeat, that is, fetal heart monitoring. Fetal heart monitoring is an important measure to understand the health of the fetus. Experts say that a fetal heartbeat between 110 and 160 is normal, so if the test result is 150, it is a relatively normal phenomenon.

If the fetal heart rate is below 150, is it a boy or a girl?

There is a saying on the Internet that a fast fetal heart rate indicates a girl, and a fetal heart rate below 140 indicates a boy. So, if the fetal heart rate is around 150, does it mean it is a girl? In fact, listening to the fetal heart rate is only the most basic way to observe the baby's vital signs, and it is not reliable to determine the gender of the baby based on the fetal heart rate. If you want to know whether the fetus is a boy or a girl, B-ultrasound examination is the most scientific and accurate method, but the country has expressly prohibited the use of B-ultrasound to determine the gender of the fetus!

Fetal heart rate is a means to predict fetal safety, so every pregnant woman needs to keep a record of her fetal heart rate. At this time, pregnant women must know the normal range of fetal heart rate:

The normal fetal heart rate is 120-160 beats/minute;

Before 20 weeks of pregnancy, the average fetal heart rate is 162 beats/minute;

During the 21st to 30th week of pregnancy, the average is 147 beats per minute;

The average is 139 beats/minute during gestational weeks 31 to 40;

Usually, the loudest fetal heartbeat is heard on the pregnant woman's abdominal wall above the fetus's back. Due to the different positions of the fetal head, the location of the loudest heartbeat is also different. It is beneficial for pregnant women to learn to count the fetal heart rate per minute. If the fetal heart rate is less than 120 beats/minute or greater than 160 beats/minute, it means that the fetal heart rate is abnormal and further review and monitoring are required.

How to read fetal heart rate monitoring chart

1. Fetal heart rate monitoring scoring criteria

(1) Baseline fetal heart rate (bpm): 180 beats/min is 0 points; 100-119 beats/min or 161-180 beats/min is 1 point; 120-160 beats/min is 2 points.

(2) Fetal heart rate variability (bpm): <50=""5=""1=""">10 is 2 points.

(3) Fetal heart rate increase (bpm): <50=""5=""1=""">10 is 2 points.

(4) Fetal heart rate decelerations: repeated late decelerations or repeated variable decelerations were scored as 0 points; variable decelerations were scored as 1 point; no or early decelerations were scored as 4 points.

After fetal heart rate monitoring, a fetal heart rate monitoring report will be issued. The doctor will score the fetal heart rate monitoring by adding up the scores of the above four items. If it is ≤4 points, it means fetal hypoxia, 5-7 points means suspicious and further monitoring is required; 8-10 points means that the monitoring response is good.

2. Uterine contractions

According to the frequency of uterine contractions, they can be divided into: normal (observed for at least 30 minutes, an average of ≤5 times every 10 minutes) and excessive (observed for at least 30 minutes, an average of >5 times every 10 minutes). The contraction curve indicates the intrauterine pressure, which increases when the uterus contracts and then remains at around 20 mmHg. Observation of the contraction curve plays a very important role in determining deceleration (referring to the slowing of fetal heart rate when contractions occur). Fetal heart rate decelerations were divided into multiple (decelerations accompanied by at least half of the uterine contractions within 20 minutes) and intermittent (decelerations accompanied by less than half of the uterine contractions within 20 minutes). According to the relationship between fetal heart rate and uterine contraction, it can be divided into three categories: early deceleration, variable deceleration, and late deceleration.
