Smoking and passive smoking are the biggest causes of lung cancer

Smoking and passive smoking are the biggest causes of lung cancer

The incidence of lung cancer is increasing year by year worldwide, and its mortality rate ranks first among malignant tumors. Smoking is the number one risk factor for lung cancer. 95% of patients with small cell lung cancer smoke, and more than 90% of patients with squamous cell lung cancer smoke.

Some people do not smoke originally, but because their spouse smokes, they are forced to smoke "second-hand smoke". Surveys show that the risk of lung cancer for the spouse of a smoker increases by 30%.

Epidemiological survey results show that the incidence of lung cancer in smokers is 11 times that of non-smokers. Some of them are passive smokers. At the same time, the survey found that people with smokers at home are 5 times more likely to develop lung cancer than non-smokers. Many people think that "non-smokers will get cancer anyway", but in fact, 25% of non-smokers who have lung cancer are caused by second-hand smoke.

In the past, people smoked dry tobacco without filters, and the smoke went directly into the lungs, causing great harm to the lungs. Now, in order to dispel smokers' concerns, tobacco companies have added filters to cigarettes, and many smokers have been comforted and continue to smoke. However, a large amount of data proves that filters cannot filter out the damage caused by tobacco to the lungs, and they only treat the symptoms but not the root cause. The number of lung cancer patients detected among smokers is increasing. It can be seen that the harm of cigarettes to the human body cannot be avoided by filters, and quitting smoking as soon as possible is the fundamental way.
