Is fetal heart rate of 138 normal?

In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, parents often buy a stethoscope and listen to the fetal heart rate themselves. This is certainly acceptable, but everyone should be aware that the fetal heart rate often changes, so the monitoring results in a short period of time may not be accurate. In order to obtain more accurate results, it is best to go to the hospital for fetal heart monitoring, which will make the results more convincing. So is a fetal heart rate monitoring result of 138 normal?

Is fetal heart rate of 138 normal?

Many people say that the faster the fetal heart rate, the greater the chance of being a girl, but this is not certain. There is no necessary connection between the speed of the fetal heart rate and whether it is a boy or a girl, and there is no basis for this statement.

Some people have conducted experiments on distinguishing the gender of the fetus by listening to the fetal heartbeat. Generally speaking, the average value of more than 5 times is the best. If the average value is above 146, the probability of it being a girl is relatively high. If the average value is below 140, the probability of it being a boy is relatively high. However, it is not very accurate, as the fetus's sleep and exercise can affect the accuracy of the data.

Fetal heart monitoring records instantaneous fetal heart rate changes through signal scanning, thus forming a monitoring graph curve. Through the changes in the curve, we can understand the fetal heart rate response during fetal movement and uterine contraction, and infer whether the fetus in the uterus is suffering from hypoxia. The fetal heart rate is mainly used to determine whether the baby is lacking oxygen and is a way of judging the baby's life.

The normal fetal heart rate is 120 to 160 beats/minute. If the fetal heart rate is above 160 beats/minute or lasts for 100 beats/minute, it indicates intrauterine fetal hypoxia and should be treated promptly. The strength and rhythm of the fetal heart rate are related to the state of the fetus. If the fetus is awake or active, the fetal heart rate will be fast and strong. If the fetus is quiet or sleeping, the fetal heart rate may be slow and slightly weak.

Different characteristics of pregnant women giving birth to boys and girls

1. If there is no morning sickness in the early stages of pregnancy (the first three months of pregnancy), a boy will be born. If there is severe morning sickness in the early stages of pregnancy, a girl will be born.

2. If the fetal heart rate is less than 140 beats per minute, it is a boy; if the fetal heart rate is at least 140 beats per minute, it is a girl.

3. If the color of the areola becomes darker, it means the baby is a boy; otherwise, it means the baby is a girl.

4. If the bulging belly looks like a fully inflated, firm, round basketball, it means the baby is a boy. If the bulging belly looks like a big watermelon and its shape does not look as round as a ball, it means the baby is a girl.

In fact, the above statement does not have sufficient scientific basis. First of all, morning sickness is caused by the rapid increase in human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) levels in the early stages of pregnancy, which inhibits the secretion of gastric acid and reduces gastrointestinal motility, thereby affecting the appetite and digestive function of expectant mothers. Morning sickness can occur regardless of whether you are giving birth to a boy or a girl. The personal experiences of many pregnant women also show that the severity of morning sickness has nothing to do with the gender of the fetus.
