The dangers of pedicure

Modern people like a series of activities such as pedicure, foot bath, massage, etc. As far as pedicure is concerned, I believe many people have done it. It has a long history and can be said to be a skill. A pedicure can treat many problems on the feet, including trimming the nails, exfoliating, pinching the feet, etc. Although many people like to get a pedicure or foot massage, it can easily lead to infection if the tools used in some shops are not hygienic. We should pay attention to the dangers of pedicure.

1. The benefits of pedicure

1. Nourish the brain and refresh the mind

Nourishing the brain and refreshing the mind is one of the most significant effects of foot massage. When you feel sleepy, massage your feet to instantly feel refreshed and alert. Regularly massaging the reflex areas of the brain, frontal sinus, brain stem, pituitary gland, etc. can significantly relieve fatigue for those who do mental work.

2. Heart-tonifying and rhythm-regulating

Foot massage can promote blood circulation, increase blood oxygen content, promote metabolism and regulate heart rate. Regularly massaging the reflex areas of the heart, adrenal glands, stomach, and transverse armpits can help nourish the heart and regulate the rhythm of the elderly, infirm, and heart patients.

3. Strengthen the spleen and aid digestion

When you don’t feel like eating, massage your feet for a while and you will immediately taste the aroma of rice and vegetables and your appetite will be stimulated. Regularly massaging the reflex areas of the stomach, intestines, gallbladder, pancreas, thyroid gland, and celiac plexus can strengthen the spleen and aid digestion, increasing appetite.

Second, the disadvantages of pedicure

1. If you get a pedicure at an improper pedicure shop, the instruments may not be properly disinfected, causing bacterial infection. Hepatitis B treatment must be antiviral treatment, which continuously suppresses viral replication through drugs. When getting a pedicure, if the foot massage place does not thoroughly disinfect the pedicure knives or nail clippers, consumers may unknowingly share a set of knives or nail clippers with hepatitis B patients, which may lead to the spread of hepatitis B virus. A survey has shown that sharing razors, shaving or pedicure at a barber shop, and having a history of oral or endoscopic treatment can easily lead to cross-infection of hepatitis B.

2. Pedicure knife. If the person has viruses or pathogenic bacteria on his feet, then the pedicure knife will carry the viruses and pathogenic bacteria. To ensure that surgical instruments in hospitals are sterile, they must be sterilized at high temperatures or soaked in disinfectant for a long time. It is almost impossible to strictly disinfect pedicure knives in foot massage parlors. Therefore, it is common to contract diseases due to pedicure.

We know that among people who go for pedicures, some may carry the hepatitis B virus, some may carry hepatitis C, or even HIV and other viruses. If the skin is cut during a pedicure, even if it is a very minor cut, the pedicure knife will carry the virus. If this virus-carrying pedicure knife is not strictly disinfected and is used to pedicure the next person, then as long as the skin is slightly broken during pedicure, the disease may be transmitted to the next person.
