I have a cold and sweat a lot at night

For many of our friends, they will actually encounter the disease of cold. It is generally believed that if we sweat when we have a cold, it will help us recover from the cold. But sometimes, some friends sweat a lot at night. Is this normal? In fact, sweating a lot at night when you have a cold is also a way for the body to detoxify. Below we will introduce the symptoms of different colds.

Is it good to sweat a lot when you have a cold?

The answer is no! We are now in the season between summer and autumn. The temperature has changed dramatically in recent days. It is cooler in the morning, hotter at noon, and lower at night. This makes it easy to catch a cold. In addition to drug treatment, many people will buy a cold medicine on their own, and then lie in bed and sweat after taking it. In fact, this is wrong. Friends who are familiar with Chinese medicine will know that colds are divided into two types in Chinese medicine: wind-heat and wind-cold.

Cold caused by hot wind

For a cold caused by hot wind, if you take measures such as covering yourself with a blanket or drinking a bowl of ginger soup to make your body hot and sweat, it will only make things worse for yourself, adding fuel to the fire and making the internal heat in your body even greater.

Symptoms: Colds caused by hot wind will cause nasal congestion, turbid nasal discharge, dry mouth and throat, a constant feeling of having phlegm but being unable to cough it out, the phlegm is a bit thick, or there may be headaches and fever, a red tongue, and a yellow tongue coating.

What to do: For colds caused by hot wind, the correct approach is to clear away heat and detoxify. Drinking a cup of honeysuckle, chrysanthemum, or isatis root will have a good effect in treating colds.

Cold caused by cold

Symptoms: Colds caused by wind and cold will cause runny nose, easily blocked nose, cough, thin white sputum, itchy throat, fear of cold, and may be accompanied by headache, white tongue coating and other symptoms.

What to do: You can eat orange peel and make tea with it, which has the effect of reducing phlegm and relieving cough; you can also drink ginger tea, which is tea boiled with ginger slices and brown sugar. It can induce slight sweating and also cure colds.
