What is the lump next to my waist?

The waist is a very important part of the human body. Basically, people use the waist in many activities, so the waist is often injured. Common injuries include ligament strain, sprain, etc. However, these external injuries can be avoided or treated. What is troublesome is the damage to the waist caused by the internal organs of the human body. If the damage to the waist comes from the inside, people will not be able to detect it without instruments, which is quite troublesome. So what causes a lump next to the waist?

1. Lipoma

Lipoma is a common benign soft tissue tumor composed of mature fat cells and can occur in any part of the body where there is fat. It is more common on the shoulders, back, neck, breasts and abdomen, followed by the proximal extremities (such as upper arms, thighs, and buttocks). It is mainly found under the skin, which is called superficial lipoma. It can also be found deep in the limbs and between the muscle bellies, which is called deep lipoma. The patients are mostly older, mostly middle-aged people between 40 and 60 years old, and less common in children. Deep lipomas often grow along the muscles and can reach deep into the periosteum, but rarely invade adjacent bones. Lipomas rarely become malignant and are easily removed surgically.

2. Fibroma

Fibroma is composed of well-differentiated subcutaneous connective tissue. The tumor grows slowly and generally stops growing after it develops to a certain size. It is a benign tumor composed of well-differentiated subcutaneous connective tissue. It rarely becomes malignant and is mainly treated with surgical resection. It is often found under the skin and grows slowly. They are generally smaller, have clear edges, smooth surfaces, are harder in texture, and can be pushed. Those outside the abdominal wall are more common in men, and are prone to occur in the scapula, thigh and buttocks.

3. Sebaceous cyst

Sebaceous cysts, commonly known as "sebaceous tumors", are retention cysts formed mainly due to obstruction of the sebaceous gland excretion ducts, which causes the sebaceous gland cystic epithelium to swell with gradually increasing contents. It is characterized by a slowly growing benign lesion. There is white bean curd-like secretion in the cyst. It can occur at any age, but is more common in young and middle-aged people, and is prone to occur on the head, face, neck, chest and back. Sebaceous cysts protrude from the surface of the skin and generally have no subjective symptoms. If secondary infection occurs, they may cause pain and suppuration.
