The efficacy of external application of Purslane

The efficacy of external application of Purslane

Purslane is a very common wild vegetable. You can often see it in the fields. Purslane can be crushed and applied to the skin. It has the effects of beautifying the skin, clearing away heat and detoxifying. Therefore, the function of Purslane is very high. It can also be used to wipe the face and mix it cold.

Purslane can be directly crushed and applied to the skin. Purslane is a vegetable, but it is also a traditional Chinese medicine.

"Bencao Jing Jizhu" introduces that Portulaca oleracea can clear away heat and dampness, cool blood and detoxify. Currently in clinical practice, dried Purslane is mostly taken orally in combination with other medicinal materials, mainly for the treatment of bacterial dysentery, acute gastroenteritis, acute appendicitis, gonorrhea, bloody stools, hemorrhoidal bleeding, etc. Mashing fresh Purslane and applying it externally or decocting it in water for washing externally can also treat carbuncles, erysipelas, eczema, etc.

How to crush purslane and apply it on your face:

1. While clearing away heat and detoxifying, Purslane can also repair damaged tissues and cells. If there is skin suppuration, first clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide, then rinse with saline, and finally disinfect with iodine. Then take 250 grams of fresh purslane, wash and mash it, wrap it with disposable sterilized gauze, press it into a cake shape, and change the medicine once a day. If it is a conventional disinfection process, it would need to be changed twenty times, but with purslane, it only needs to be changed 3-5 times to achieve very good results.

2. Purslane is used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat eczema and dermatitis, and has the effects of absorbing moisture, relieving itching, clearing away heat and reducing swelling. It has a particularly good detoxifying effect on some purulent skin diseases such as abscesses and acne.

Method: Crush the purslane into juice and apply it directly to the affected area, or add honey to water and use it as a facial mask. After waiting for about 20 minutes, wash your face thoroughly with clean water. It can instantly cool your skin.

Note:

The requirements for using Chinese herbal medicines that come into direct contact with wounds are stricter than those for oral administration. If you did not pick the Purslane yourself in the wild, but bought it at the vegetable market, you must soak it in clean water for an hour before using it, which will help remove the residual medicine.
