What should I do if I feel dizzy after taking cefuroxime

Medicines are essential disease treatment products in life. Although the efficacy of medicines varies, they can all be applied to various symptoms in a targeted manner, bringing many benefits to people's health. Among them, cephalexin is a drug with a very wide range of applications. It is mainly used to treat various inflammations. However, people who are allergic to cephalexin should not use it. Let’s take a look at what to do if you feel dizzy after taking cephalexin?

If you experience dizziness after taking cephalosporin, it is often considered to be caused by an allergy to cephalosporin. Some people are allergic to cephalosporins and will experience symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and rash on the body. It is recommended to stop taking cephalosporins, go to the hospital for a check-up, and be sure to quit smoking and drinking while taking the medicine.

If a disulfiram-like reaction occurs, the following measures should be taken immediately:

1. Rest in bed. Patients in shock should lie in a concave position.

2. Keep the airway open and provide oxygen inhalation with an oxygen flow rate of 4-6L/min.

3. Establish meridian channels and give 5-10 mg of dexamethasone in glucose solution by intravenous drip or intravenous push as prescribed by the doctor, replenish fluids and provide diuretics, and give vasoactive drugs according to the condition.

4. Symptomatic treatment: For patients with nausea and vomiting, give 10 mg of metoclopramide intramuscularly; for patients with drowsiness and unconsciousness, give naloxone for symptomatic treatment.

5. Keep first aid equipment and medicines by the bed. Such as: defibrillator, suction machine, tracheotomy bag, respiratory stimulants, diuretics and other rescue drugs.

6. Closely observe the patient's consciousness, vital signs, heart rate, heart rhythm, urine volume and other clinical changes, and keep records.

In addition to cephalosporins and imidazole derivatives, other drugs that cause disulfiram reactions include metronidazole, tinidazole, ketoconazole, furazolidone, chloramphenicol, glibenclamide, and phenformin. In clinical work, we should remind patients and their families not to drink alcohol or beverages containing alcohol when using the above-mentioned drugs and within 7 days of stopping the drugs.

Do not abuse cephalosporins because they have so many advantages, so patients and doctors favor them. When a patient is infected and has a fever, no matter what kind of infection it is, cephalosporins will be used immediately.
