The tap water is white and turbid

With the arrival of hot weather, the amount of tap water used by each household has increased. Tap water is an indispensable part of our daily life, and it is involved in washing clothes and cooking. Generally, the normal color of the tap water we use is clear and transparent, but sometimes the tap water supplied by the community or school is white and turbid. What causes this?

First, in recent years, water supply companies have increased the service pressure of pipeline networks, eliminated rooftop water tanks as much as possible, and reduced secondary water pollution. Under the strong pressure inside the water supply pipes, some air is forced to dissolve in the water. When tap water is released from the user's faucet, the pressure disappears and the air that was forced to dissolve is quickly released from the water, forming countless tiny bubbles, causing the water to appear milky white or milky. Generally, the bubbles disappear after tens of seconds and the tap water returns to a clear state. This is a normal phenomenon in urban water supply and has no effect on the water quality.

On the other hand, as traditional faucets are replaced by mixing valves, the water outlet filter of the valve has a filtering and air mixing function, which helps save water. A large number of bubbles will also be formed during use, making the water white. After the bubbles disappear, the water will return to a clear state.

The main reason why tap water is yellow or turbid is that when the water supply is restored or the water supply valve is adjusted after a water outage, some rust attached to the inner wall of the pipe network is washed away due to the drastic change in water pressure and the change in water flow direction, but the time is very short, which will cause the water output by the user to become turbid for a short time. Users can open the faucet and let water run for a while to drain the sediment or rust in the water supply pipe. Generally, the water quality can return to normal in a short time.

In addition to the above reasons, there are several other reasons for abnormal water flow from users' taps: first, the secondary water supply management unit fails to clean and maintain the secondary water supply facilities as required; second, users who are still using galvanized pipes or iron pipes may suffer yellowing water due to rust if they have not used them for a long time.
