What to do if your hands get spicy after washing chili peppers

Cooking is a very tedious process, but you can also experience the fun in the process of cooking. Eating the food you cook makes you feel at ease and happy. There are many things that need to be paid attention to during the cooking process. Nowadays, most cooks are done by women, and women’s hands are very delicate and should be protected. Chili is an essential seasoning in home-cooked meals. Without chili, the dish will lack soul. So what should you do if your hands get spicy when washing chili peppers while cooking?

What to do if your hands are spicy after washing chili peppers

1 When it is mildly spicy, wash with water: first hot water, then cold water. Normally, when I’m busy in the kitchen, I don’t have much time to do this. If I don’t cut a lot of peppers, I usually wet my hands with water first, so as to reduce direct contact with the skin, and then wash my hands immediately after cutting. Sometimes it is still a little spicy, so remember to pour some hot water, soak and wash first, then rinse with cold water. Be sure to use hot water first. It is useless to use cold water directly. It will be spicy again when the water dries up.

2 When you are busy in the kitchen: you can pour some vinegar to effectively relieve the symptoms. When we are in the kitchen, we need to reuse the resources in the kitchen. If your skin is sensitive and you have cut a lot of peppers, you can pour some vinegar on your hands and rub them repeatedly. Don't rush to rinse them, wash them again after a while. If the condition is serious, repeat it several times. I have tried it, and it is advisable to do this while cooking in the kitchen.

3 If you still feel hot and need to go to the bathroom after work: you can squeeze some toothpaste or apply some soap.

Sometimes, I am too busy in the kitchen and don’t have time to take care of it. After finishing the dish, I found my hands were too spicy. At this time, I usually wash my hands in the bathroom, then squeeze some toothpaste, which is also cold, and rub them. Don't wash them off in a hurry. Washing them off after a while will make the symptoms much better. Of course, you can also use soap to wash, but I personally don’t think it’s as effective as toothpaste.

4 If you are a tea lover, rub some tea leaves on the spicy surface and then wash it off.

My father likes to drink tea very much. He has a special teacup every day, and he drinks strong tea. Sometimes when I am done cutting peppers, I just pour his cup of tea into the spicy place together with the tea leaves, and rub them back and forth. The alkaline environment of the tea is also very effective. Friends who drink tea often can try this, it is not bad.

5 If conditions permit, you can use a cotton swab to wipe it with some alcohol, the cooling effect is just right.

Using alcohol is a more professional method. It is rarely used and not necessary. You can try it when conditions permit. I tried it several times. There was no alcohol at home before. Later, I fell and needed to disinfect the wound with alcohol every day, so I bought a bottle of medical alcohol. I didn't finish using it later, so I tried it a few times. I wiped a few drops with a cotton swab, and it was cold. If it was spicy, I would drop more. The effect was good, but I personally felt it was too troublesome, and not everyone has alcohol at home.

6. It is recommended that friends who need to cut peppers frequently should wear gloves.

If you have experience with spicy food, if you know you will be cutting a lot of peppers today, prepare in advance. Buy some disposable gloves and keep them at home. Put on the gloves and throw them away after use. This way, the food will basically not be spicy. Although it will be slower to cut and not as easy to cut, it is very comfortable to not feel any stinging sensation, isn't it?
