What are the symptoms of excessive tension?

In daily life, if you are overly nervous because of something, this nervous emotion will often cause some physical reactions. For example, it may cause gastrointestinal dysfunction, which may lead to symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. More serious cases, due to fear and tension, may also cause the heartbeat to accelerate, induce some heart diseases, cause a sudden increase in blood pressure, cause excessive pressure on the brain, and may cause symptoms such as fainting.

What are the symptoms of excessive stress?

1. Acute gastrointestinal dysfunction:

Acute gastrointestinal dysfunction is the most common type of excessive stress. Athletes experience nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, pale complexion, and weakness after high-intensity training or competition. It often occurs after middle- and short-distance running, swimming, skating and cycling. Treatment includes resting quietly, keeping warm and eating easily digestible food. The condition usually improves within 1 to 2 days.

2. Vomiting blood may sometimes occur

This may be caused by the stress of exercise causing erosion and bleeding of the gastric mucosa. This disease is called "exercise stress ulcer", "acute gastric mucosal bleeding", "acute hemorrhagic gastritis", "acute erosive ulcer or gastritis" or "acute gastric mucosal disease". Its pathogenesis may be that intense exercise and emotional tension make sympathetic nerve activity dominant, gastric vasospasm, especially mucosal vasospasm, thus causing mucosal lesions.

3. Fainting:

It is a transient loss of consciousness that occurs suddenly during or after exercise. After waking up, you may feel headache, dizziness, general weakness, and may also have nausea and vomiting. The heart rate may increase, blood pressure may decrease, and breathing may increase or decrease. These symptoms usually disappear quickly. Fainting is caused by cerebral ischemia. The athlete should be allowed to lie flat and rest with his head slightly lowered, and be given ammonia to smell. If conditions permit, he can be given oxygen inhalation and 40-60ml of 25-50% glucose solution can be injected intravenously. He should be kept warm and transferred to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment if necessary.

4. Acute heart failure and myocardial damage:

Acute heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, and even sudden death due to heart disease may occur after strenuous exercise. Autopsy results show that most people who die suddenly have organic heart disease, such as coronary artery disease, myocardial degeneration, large artery rupture, myocardial necrosis and hemorrhage. However, there are also cases where the cause of death cannot be found after autopsy. It is speculated that it may be caused by acute heart failure, severe arrhythmia or cardiac arrest. First aid measures for heart failure include oxygen inhalation, slow intravenous injection of 0.25 mg of strophanthus K added to 20-40 ml of 25% glucose solution, or intramuscular injection of 50 mg of pethidine, and then sending the patient to the hospital for treatment. If myocardial infarction is suspected, the patient should be immediately transferred to the hospital for emergency treatment. In case of cardiac and respiratory arrest, external cardiac massage and artificial respiration should be performed immediately, 1 mg each of epinephrine, isoproterenol and norepinephrine should be injected intracardially, and the patient should be prepared to be transferred to the hospital for further rescue.

5. Cerebral vasospasm:

If numbness, inflexibility or paralysis of one side of the limbs suddenly occurs after exercise, accompanied by headache, nausea and vomiting, the first aid should be to make the athlete lie quietly and inject 40-60ml of 50% glucose intravenously, and then send to the hospital for treatment.
