What causes bleeding in the corners of the eyes

Ophthalmology hospitals are medical institutions that specialize in treating eye diseases. Nowadays, ophthalmology hospitals are receiving more and more patients with eye diseases, especially patients with eye congestion. Nowadays, people cannot live without electronic products in both work and daily life, so the number of patients with eye diseases caused by excessive eye use is increasing. Below I will explain to you what causes congestion in the corners of the eyes. Everyone must protect their eyes in daily life.

1. What causes bloodshot eyes?

1. Eye congestion caused by inflammation

(1) Infectious

Such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites and other infections. It can cause keratitis, corneal ulcer, uveitis, purulent iridocyclitis, endophthalmitis, panophthalmitis, orbital cellulitis, etc., as well as various types of conjunctivitis.

(2) Allergic reaction

Such as allergy to foreign antigens, allergy to self-antigens or autoimmune diseases. Common drug allergies, bullous keratoconjunctivitis, spring catarrhal conjunctivitis, stromal keratitis, scleritis, iridocyclitis, etc.

2. Eye congestion caused by trauma

Various eye injuries (hit, slap, collision, fall, surgery), foreign objects, etc.

3. Eye congestion caused by compression

Eye congestion caused by compression refers to a sudden increase in intraocular or intraorbital pressure, leading to blood circulation disorders and local congestion. Seen in acute angle-closure glaucoma, intraorbital space-occupying lesions, etc.

4. Eye congestion caused by neoplasms

Neoplasm-induced eye congestion refers to active pterygium, corneal and conjunctival malignant tumors, etc. that lead to this phenomenon.

5. Eye congestion caused by chronic irritation

Eye congestion caused by chronic stimulation refers to the phenomenon of eye congestion caused by fatigue during normal adjustment, as well as the stimulation of wind, dust, smoke, and heat.

2. Ways to protect your eyes

1. When using the computer or reading books or newspapers, it is best to take a 5-minute break every 30 minutes, stand up and walk around, or look out the window, so as to lengthen and distance your vision which has been focused on the close distance. The distance from the computer screen should not be less than 30 cm, and use radiation-proof certified goggles to avoid radiation damage to the eyes. If your eyes are dry and itchy, close your eyes and rest for a few minutes before opening them. Never rub your eyes with your hands. If there is no improvement, you should seek medical attention as another infection may be the cause.

2. Drink more water: Especially in air-conditioned offices or rooms, special attention should be paid to water replenishment, which can improve the dryness of eye mucosa.

3. Eye drops, saline solution, artificial tears: People who wear contact lenses often rely on this type of eye drops to protect their eyes; some people buy eye drops at the pharmacy to prevent dry eyes, but pay attention to the source of the drops. It is best to get them prescribed by a doctor, which is safer. Because most eye drops or artificial tears contain preservatives or fungicides for easy storage, most people should not have too many problems using them. However, it is hard to say if you have an allergic constitution.

4. Cold and hot compresses: When your eyes are tired, you can use ice and hot compresses alternately to soothe your eyes, but do not ice or press on the eyeballs. The same goes for hot compresses. Do not apply more than 5 minutes at a time. You can rotate your eyes up and down and left and right. Do this several times. This can promote blood circulation around the eyes and is also very effective in improving dark circles caused by fatigue.

5. You can eat more foods containing beta-carotene: carrots, papaya, pumpkin, green vegetables, etc. Some people will make some wolfberry tea or cassia seed tea in the office, which are very helpful for the eyes.
