What to do if the house is damp

I believe that the problem of damp houses affects many people. A damp house is not just uncomfortable to stay in. Staying in a humid room for a long time will not only aggravate rheumatism and cause joint pain, but also lead to the growth of many bacteria and even resurgence of the disease. Even very healthy people who often stay in a humid room may develop skin ringworm diseases such as tinea corporis, tinea pedis, tinea manuum, tinea versicolor, and respiratory allergies.

What should you do if the room is damp?

1. Open doors and windows for ventilation: This is the simplest method, and ventilation can allow the moisture in the entire space to evaporate together. However, there are some issues to pay attention to when ventilating. The weather outside must be dry when ventilating, and the humidity outside must be lower than that indoors. A sunny afternoon is a better time because the temperature outside is high at this time. When the humidity outside is high, doors and windows should be closed to prevent moisture and humidity. In normal times, you should open windows more often for ventilation to reduce the water vapor content in the room. Especially for newly renovated houses, there is a lot of moisture, so more ventilation is needed to remove the moisture.

2. Desiccant: Desiccant and activated carbon can be used to prevent moisture and absorb moisture. There are many desiccants in supermarkets that are specifically used for moisture prevention and dehumidification. The most common types are moisture absorbing boxes and dehumidification bags.

3. Quicklime: Use quicklime or bamboo charcoal to absorb moisture. In rainy weather, it is not suitable for ventilation. At this time, you can use quicklime and place it in some places in the room, which can absorb moisture very well. Bamboo charcoal can also achieve this effect, but it is not as fast as quicklime. Bamboo charcoal will not turn into powder after absorbing water, while quicklime will become mature and turn into powder after being soaked in water vapor. Put an appropriate amount of lime in a small cloth bag, tie it into a small bag and place it in various corners of the room. Lime itself has the function of absorbing moisture, and can also reduce the humidity in the room. At the same time, lime also has a disinfecting effect, killing two birds with one stone.

4. Air conditioning: air conditioning dehumidifier or exhaust fan. This method of using the machine is to blow air flow, which is like a vacuum cleaner. It can concentrate the wet air together, and the moisture will often turn into water. This method of ventilation is somewhat similar to the effect of ventilation. Air conditioners used in homes generally have a dehumidification function. However, the method of using air conditioners to adjust the indoor air humidity is slow to take effect, generally taking two or three hours, and will make people indoors feel cold.

5. Protective cover: When the indoor humidity is too heavy, such as when you are not using the computer or TV, it is best to put up a protective cover to prevent the back of the appliance from contacting humid air. And you should turn on these electrical appliances more often, because the heat generated when the machines are running can also effectively dissipate moisture.

6. Moisture absorbing bag: professional moisture absorbing and dehumidifying item. Such items as moisture-absorbing bags and moisture-absorbing bags contain some professional materials that are very effective in absorbing moisture, but the cost of this method is also relatively high.
